Shaggy parasol? (limited info)

I found this lone mushroom under my porch weeks ago and didn't think much of it because I didn't wanna mess with it (looking all amanita like to the amateur eye)
But with more experience and reading every day I've come to think it might be related to or be a Shaggy Parasol.

 

Habitat: Clay mainly and some dirt, under porch that gets some sun
Cap: 5" Diameter
Stem: 4" , no volva, hollow but not frail
Gills: Don't think they were attached


Sorry for limited info, but at the time I didn't care

possibly, i dont think its an amanita

i don't think it's amanita either. I've started doing deep amanita homework now

Wish I had a better picture of the ring. Big ring just like shaggy parasol.
There was also a bulbous base of stem

The relatively thick stem in your photos, plus your description of a bulbous stem base makes me lean towards Cholorphyllum brunneum.

On mykoweb he calls Chlorophyllum brunneum  Shaggy Parasol?

Could this be right? Are they very close in relation?
Is Chlorophyllum brunneum edible? That's what sites say..

Check the spore print color and post a clear picture of the base of the stem to get a good ID.

In the end, ToxicMan's guess will probably be proven correct.

Wish I could Alan but I tossed the mushroom on a bed of rocks and now it's a third of the size and crusty brown.
I'm tempted to soak it in water, rip it open, and try and salvage some tissue to grow out. Native parasol would be awesome to have growing...more

It'll probably come back from the mycelium in the ground. If it's c. brunneum, it'll be pretty dependable that way. I have a patch (in my neighbour's yard) from which I usually get 10 mushrooms each wet season because the mycelium is so well-established.

Next time a shroom sprouts up from there, do a spore print. So you know: green prints mean it's poisonous (c. molybdites) but I sincerely doubt that's what you've got.
