What exactly is so fascinating.?

The fascinating thing is that it shows you how to influence a system without doing anything at all.. getting your way through passivity, the interplay between the active and the passive. Really cool text, one of my favorites. It's basicaly a rephrasing of one principle all the time.

Could you give an example from life?

Yeah sure.. if I make myself ugly, I make you look pretty.

Making yourself look ugly is not doing nothing.

Lol ok good point but I meant it's being in a passive state.. doing nothing is actually doing something and that something is being nothing. You can't litterally "do nothing" or you wouldn't exist.

But your making yourself ugly, actively.

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Haha.. come on are you kidding me? I'm not making myself ugly all the time. At one point I am ugly and I stop making myself ugly. The ugly making is only a process like putting up make up. At one point you have make up on, and you are in a passive make up state.

You are making no logical sense.

Try another example.

I'm not sure exactly, it always seems to teach me something about the mind and how hung up most of us are on the trappings of duality.
This is the first thing i read by Lao Tzu and have remembered it word for word for many years.

"Existence is beyond the power of words
To define:
Terms may be used
But are none of them absolute.
In the beginning of heaven and earth there were no words,
Words came out of the womb of matter;
And whether a man dispassionately
Sees to the core of life
Or passionately
Sees the surface,
The core and the surface
Are essentially the same,
Words make them seem different
Only to express appearance.
If name be needed, wonder names them both:
From wonder into wonder
Existence opens."

Great. This would have been good in your OP.

I feel the same. It's all about our inability to comprehend the infinite with a finite mind.

Which reminds me of a thread I want to start. See ya.

Lol that is exactly why I am making no logical sense, because you are convinced we are not able to comprehend the infinite.. I think mathematics is pretty good proof we can. This is also what this work is about.

No you are making no logical sense because you are not being logical in your thinking.

Let me try an example. An argument erupts between me and my girl. Instead of defending my POV I let her vent her emotions without interference. She feels heard whether I listened or not. She's over it. Problem solved by my doing basically nothing. That's about as close as I can get to what you are trying to convey.

You're completely missing the point. It's not about doing nothing, it's about the interplay between active and passive. Like I said before, you can never litterally do nothing.. but doing nothing is not what this is about at all. Read the texts and see what it is about so we can have a proper discussion without these misunderstandings. You keep on talking about the wrong thing.

Then if you cannot do nothing there is no true passive. So it's all a lot of bs.

Doing nothing has nothing to do with it. Lol.. but indeed, in the end there is no true passive as there is always some active.

You can't explain it or show it but you insist it exists. How is that different from the Christian believing in god?

Logical thinking, is an oxymoron.

To say what is, is to say what isn't, are we so presumptuous to believe we know everything?
