how is that unnatural?

Well of course nothing is.

The govt decides over most aspects of my life everyday and I'm guessing yours too. What's your point?

And not to mention that life in prison is inhumane.

How does slow torture and the loss of ones humanity seem more moral then a quick and painless death?

The govt supposedly reflects the majority view of a given population. How is the govt deciding that you must pay federal taxes for schools even if you don't have children any different then condemning someone to death? They both reflect the will of the people over the individual.

Why this one issue?

I didn't mean you personally are having an attack of death anxiety. I mean in general that we think death is the worse punishment that could ever happen and so must never be allowed under any circumstances.

yeah but the REAL issue is will of the majority over the individual. That is the fundamental "problem" that this thread deals with. The death penalty is just an example.

I know we're friends. But this is not just one issue for me. As with most things it leads from an issue to a broad principle. You don't seem too concerned with other threads going "off" topic. So let me be the judge of whether I'm on or off topic or if I need to be.

Well next year New York could decide differently. And New York is not the united states. Politics is strange that way.

The thing you don't understand here is that I don't care what anyone else thinks about the death penalty.  Considering the state of prisons and how justice works in the real world and not how it could be in the imagined future I am for the death penalty. Especially a voluntary one.

I already agreed that everything is natural.

And I am defeated by the govt. I no longer have an active interest in my fellow man or govt. I have come to certain conclusions about what kind of change is or is not possible in my lifetime at very least.

Now I agree that the death penalty should be carried out in due haste. As it is a delayed death penalty is not a death penality imo.
