eh i changed my mind, i think its just white people (and Asians probably) cant pull it off. blacks with western/european accent and dreads i feel can pull off the look...

I'm a white guy with really frizzy hair right now I have a fro going on I know I could pull of decent dreads but I don't think I would look good, the dreads would just not on me.

What's with all the intolerant assholes here? It's a damn hairstyle, just like dying your hair, crew-cut, mohawks, etc. Just because it's associated with Rastafarianism, or some black people feel they have an age-old privilege to wear dreads, doesn't mean shit. I've seen people with shitty smelling dreads just like I have seen people with shitty smelling straight hair. If you don't practice proper hygiene then you are going to smell like shit regardless of what your hair looks like.

There are few white people that, in my opinion, can pull of dreads really well.

Look up dj MONK, he's a fucking legend and a true gangster. White dude, and his dreads are tight.

Okay I just washed my hair with dish liquid, the stuff they use to get oil off of birds during oil spills. Now I'm going to backcomb when it dries and report my results.

Dude, its going to take a couple years of doing what you've already done.

Probably take 9months for the oil levels in your hair to equalize. Basically your hair will be really greasy and gross for 9 months and then it will dry out and you'll be good.

Then your hair will start knotting very slowly, on its own and it will look like shit.

By year 3 you should start having decent dreads, and by year 4 they'll be shoulder length and tight. You'll probably get dandruff.

FYI: No matter what, if you try and make your dreadlocks over night, they will look like shit and not lock up.
