What went wrong with my hair?

Okay so as you all know I'm getting dreads.

I started by not washing my hair for 2 weeks and wearing a wool hat.

Now I got a comb and started backcombing my hair but really all it did was add volume to my hair.

What the fuck am I supposed to do?

Don't white people need a wax or something to get dreads?  I don't know, that's what I've heard but I have no sources to back me up. :laugh:

Wax is just for people who want instant dreads, real rasta thick dreads take time to thicken

Wax is not always recommended.

Unfortunately im part of the .0000001% of blacks who have straight white people hair so It's pretty hard to backcomb effectively.

And I'm not white god damnit

You should have had a friend partition your hair into 1/2" or 1" squares and then back comb each partition while you hair was still nice and clean.  It would have given you a MUCH nicer start to your dreads, not too mention a much cleaner environment to begin with.  Good luck with all the knots from not washing it.  Not washing is gross.  You can still have clean hair and have dreads if you take proper care of it. 

Just like anything else, preparation is key.  If you grow mushrooms, you should know that shortcuts don't lead to anything good.

If I were you, I would wash AND condition my hair (GOD FORBID!) and let a friend backcomb it with a twisting method after partitioning your hair properly.  Not only will your dreads look much nicer, but they will be much easier to maintain once they have started. Don't forget the dread wax!  You don't NEED it, but it will help in the first couple of weeks. 

If you want dreads, which are typically a long-term hair style, you might as well do it right the first time, correct?  You don't want silly, nasty looking dreads do you?

Also keep in mind that you will need roughly twice the length of hair as you want your dreads.  If you hair is 12" from root to tip, expect 6"-8" dreads if done properly.

cuz dreads are associated with rastafarianism and a main tenant of rastafarianism is that babylon (the west) is evil. and white people = the west. so its just funny.

White people aren't the west, it's the west's lifestyle that rastafarianism is against. There is nothing wrong with anyone in the entire world, no matter their skin color, getting dreads so long as they live the rasta lifestyle. :heart:

I don't know WTF is up with people and thinking only certain people should be allowed to do certain things :mad2: that's been happening to me a lot recently.
