Yes this issue. It is our right as human beings to decide what enters our bodies, and Im pretty sure its a const. right as well. Telling someone that they will lose their livelyhood for not taking a , in all reality, untested vaccination is unmoral, and flat out wrong. I think that if this is happening then there will be Class action lawsuit commercials on TV for sure, as there should be. This is very disturbing to hear about and I will look into weather NY was an isolated incident or if its going on elsewhere. Now I understand all the talk about a police state and martial law. I dont think it will come to that, but still this is fucked up.
A while back (2004) The army was working with its Anthrax vaccination. For those that dont know Anthrax is not a disease its a spore from a fungus, so in essence all a vaccine would be is getting shot up with a few of these spores. Well I got into the mil in the first stages of this and this is how it went down.
The shot was to administered (manditorily) to all soldiers. It consisted of 6 shots to be taken ate intervals as follows. Shot one, wait a week, shot two, wait two weeks, shot three, wait two weeks, then three monthly followups. I got shot one two and three in 2004, then in early 2005 the FDA recalled the antidote. Then the FDA re-approved the shot a few months later, but it was a new breed to be administered in the same fashion. So I got the first three shots again. then Low and behold the FDA recalls teh drug again due to two deaths involving the new vaccine. so now its late 2005 and we are about to deploy and the Army has stated that it will continue to administer the shots, but now its optional. The catch was that if you went downrange without taking the shot and died in an anthrax attack, then all of your benefits were voided. I remember getting ready to be deployed and the huge disturbance over weather or not we were gonna take the shot. Alas I did not, because the bottom line was that nobody had died in an anthrax attack in Iraq, and the fact that I have already had 6 sketchy shots of this shit.
You see funny thing about anthrax is that like I said it is a spore. This Spore isolates itself in the pollups of your lungs and if active shuts them down, but if dormant acts as a way for your body to become used to it and train your white blood cells to destroy it. what we dont know is how long will this take, or even if our bodies are capable of destroying such a huge intruder(spores are much larger then say a flu virus). So to this day i dont know if the spores in my lungs are gonna activate or not. If they do then I WILL DIE, if they dont then I might survive a huge anthrax attack. If the odds are broken down thats 33% death from shot 33% death from attack(Iknow a attack is very unlikely, just trying to make a point) 33% A OK. 1% unknown cause I never finished the series.

Moral of the story, if you are in the military and are a health care worker, you probably have no choice in the matter. That's done to protect the lives around you, not yourself. Sometimes it's misguided, shortsighted or just plain retarded. But deal with it. If you don't want any part of it, you are free to choose another profession.

Otherwise, you are free to do whatever the fuck you want. Nobody is forcing me to get a flu shot, so I'm not going to get it. Not because of conspiracy theorists wet dreams and not because I'm afraid of getting the flu. It's my choice, like it is hundreds of millions of others in this country.

And it is up to the individual to do their own research and weigh the risks to benefits of it. If they don't then it's their own fucking fault.

It's your choice unless you subscribed to a profession that requires it.

End of story.

What ever happened to personal responsibility? Just because the media hypes something up and blows it way out of proportion doesn't mean you have to listen to them.

wrooong. They turn you away if you don't have a pre existing condition or are really old. There really isn't enough for everyone. but that doesn't mean you need it. It's basically the flu, everyone's getting their panties in a bunch. I never got a regular flu shot until I was 16 or 17. But that shot worked wonders!

I'm the type of person who is easily susceptible to the flu. Years when I got 2 shots, I had the flu. Years when I had none, I got the flu. I admit, I'll probably get swine flu too. But instead of getting a shot with, who knows what, I'd want my body to fight it off naturally and develop a natural immunity.

Is anyone else worried about the nasal vaccine?  It's a weak, but still contagious strain. It gives me bad feelings....

so your intelligent and rational conversation is comprised of telling someone to go away and claiming that what they say is complete and utter bullshit without offering any valid conjecture as to why you believe the claims to be unfounded?
what do you honestly put it past our government to do things like that? have you been living under a friggin rock the last 8 years? and to a lesser extent since about 1950?

Yet, I got sicker from that shot then I normally do.
i think the bottom line is that you should be grateful that you have the choice to take it or not. I didnt have that luxory afforded to me. If you have a strong Immune system and trust it tehn dont take it. If not then you might be better off with it. If you dont trust the govt, then pass, If you do then go for it.


the vaccine cannot possibly give you the flu, sure, it can make you feel a little down since your immune system will respond to the DEAD virus and create antibodies, but it is impossible for it actually infect you with the flu.  The nasal sniff on the other hand, can most certainly give it, since the virus is still live, although weakened.

its a ridiculous notion to think that the govt would use a flu vaccine as a way to 'control' you or some other bullshit...What would be in the vaccine that would give them control?  Why would they use the opportunity of swine flu, a very weak flu strain, and give options to MOST americans whether to take it or not?  If they wanted to force vaccine on people, they could just make it another required vaccine for ALL public school children, that would be much more effective don't you think?  Since they do similarly with things like MMR (which by the way, has practically wiped out measles, mumps, and rubella, from the united states).

The govt isn't trying to take control or whatever with the vaccine, its just a flu vaccine.  Swine flu is VERY contagious, but really not that dangerous if you do get sick, if you feel you need the vaccine then get it, its pretty damn safe, formulated just like any other years flu vaccine, although rushed a little.  If you don't want to get it, at least have legitimate concerns...

i agree- but to each his own opinion, no use butting heads if you both know you wont manage to convince each other...

that said- "conspiracy" and "patriotism" aside, the news is just playing the same game they've been doing for the past several years... news making is business, tough luck.
If they can scare you, if they can make you feel insecure, they can own you- you'll be glued every morning to the paper, and every evening to the tube...

and its like i said before, when people are scared, they stop thinking things through as carefully as they normally would... if someone where to take advantage of that- then we step back into politics... and moments like the start of the osama hunt come to mind....

what you're arguing over seems to be whether or not the gov is then supporting the media's game to their benefit... (enter conspiracy)  and while that does seem so obvious to some, it also seems ridiculous to others,  and seeing as how we can't exactly prove it either way, (at least, not in a fashion that would convince either side).. there's no point derailing this topic any further  ~~  ^.^

-we're not talking about some agent in the shot causing mind control =P  .. its the idea that by creating fear of a thing, you can "guide" the masses into taking what ever you throw at them, whatever will save em from that thing....  or by putting this on the news, and getting us talking about it on forums... we wont be thinking about war crime trials  :wink:

yes, since apparently every single american citizen is clamoring to get them...seems like it is working very well isn't it?  Seems it would be MUCH easier to go a different route then giving people the choice, fear mongering through MSM, and blowing it all out of proportion if the govt really wanted people to get these vaccines...again, like adding them to the required list for public school children, any and every single govt worker, etc.

Does it really make any sense to you that this is the route they would take?

I've got the swine flu, I've felt worse with other flu's before. I wouldn't worry too much at the present.

If it mutates into something more deadly though, that's quite a problem.

i dont believe the govt is trying to get people to take the shots.. i dont believe that's important, i agree with you, if that was the intention, its not working

i believe the intention is to draw attention from more pressing issues, while still instilling insecurity in people... i have only a few reasons for believing this, and it is also heavily based on personal biases...
the flu scare took off on the news when prominent figures where being pressured for war crimes, making it seem very convenient for a national emergency to pop up all of a sudden...

anywho... definitely check out the video i suggested in my 1st post in this thread, talks about a mushroom species whose extract is very effective against flu, more so than modern medications (taken in equivalent doses) ~  the guy has written several books on mushrooms and their role on this planet... very cool stuff =)
