Playground wood chips
    #11378419 - 11/03/09 06:54 PM (8 years, 10 months ago)

Found a great area to look , playgrounds. All the play grounds around here use wood chips instead of sand. Found these , don't think any are active though. Need to go back during day light , there were loads of mushrooms all over there.

The three chunky yellow ones might be a gymnopilus species, but idk.

Maybe Agrocybe or Gymnopilus, check the spore print color.

i've never found any in playgrounds...but i'm way up in BC

the chips look good, but all that seems to grow in them are sulfur tufts.
I think they replace them too often or treat them with something.

Wood chips for landscaping purposes, such as those around trees, tend to be mixed with more debris when they are laid.

there's a ton of fir/pine chip playgrounds near me. mushrooms don't grow in them here because they don't stay wet long enough. lol.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
