The Bay Trail is good to go biking on anyway, but it's too dry all around the Bay to go hunting
http://baytrail.abag.ca.gov/vtour/index.html
Taking Caltrain to the city is almost pointless when it starts raining since there's sooo many office/landscaping/bay trail areas down in silicon valley. I wish I had the time to explore the south bay when it's peak season, but the bay area is sooo big, there isn't a single person that could ever keep track of all that
I know they fungicide alot of places, but not all of them...Ever been to the Google campus? I haven't
I've seen some photos of silicon valley.. wood chip heaven in some places...sheesh

what do you mean it pointless takin the caltrain, Auweia? i always get off at 4th & Embarcadero, Is this point to late i want to go where theres a shit load of offices and landscaping. I know there all over the city but most of them dont even have landscaped areas since there so crowded. My only hunting grounds last year were GGP. I have been looking up other parks and different hunting grounds over the summer but does anyone mind helping me and giving me a small clue as to where there are mainly buisnesses, offices etc... thanks Auweia. I dont know if you remember me from last year but i just wanted to say thank you for helping me out with finding my first patches last year.

I remember a little bit..My point was that you can take Caltrain to the city, but you're just as likely to find species down there too when it rains enough..It's more spread out in the suburbs, more landscaping, more parks, more shopping centers..You just have to look around
try Google maps and Streetview...That helps a little bit to find office complexes, things like that.
but there won't be much until it starts raining.
It's just kind of ironic that you take Caltrain to get up here, and I take Caltrain to go down there to look for the same thing
so, as we reach the halfway point, and the trains cross going opposite ways, I'll be sure to wave...haha

Oh god you guys. Really, I shouldn't have to explain the inferences in Auweia's post. But here it goes.
How often do they grow in Santa Cruz? Well, not often enough that it is a "hot spot" for cyan hunting. The point of saying that they have been documented as far south as Santa Cruz (and actually, as far south as LA this season!! ) is to give you an idea of their range, the "hot spots" obviously being the core of their range, and the outskirts being more sparse. Silicon Valley, still being a good spot within range to hunt for cyans, santa cruz less so.
Santa Clara is well within range. So yes, they grow there.

Raining pretty hard here in the east bay, it's supposed to continue all night and then gonna clear up. I'll probably look around a bit tomorrow morning.

doesn't happen overnight like that...well, maybe in a couple places, but barely
actually it is something of a benefit to see how slow tahoe's transplants grow, over the course of a couple weeks. It goes a little faster when it rains, yes, but not overnight. Not with this species
(btw, tahoe might consider a GPS device in case he gets lost hunting in the ...erm....wilds of his own backyard there)
more important is what happens during the next week or so. The recent past with the dry east winds make them reluctant to fruit, and it takes more than this to convince them.
It all could change on a dime, and only time will tell

Hah, I like that sense of humor. The gps is to costly. I just tie a rope around my waist and the other end to the handle on the back door. Its kind of like the preview for that fog movie coming out soon.

It might not be too dry now. The maps say the bay area got 1 inch of rain.
Is this true double c?
It is amazing what consistent rain will do.

no, but if we keep getting the east wind between storms like last year, then it's going to be like last year
