Pretty much the only popular electronic music I like is Sasha, BT, The Chemical Brothers, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Sander Kleinenberg...

Some less well-known artists I really like are
Bassnectar, Eliot Lipp, Entheogenic, Heyoka, Hallucinogen, Karsh Kale, Mimosa, Ott, Outersect, Pretty Lights, Phuture Primitive, Ronald Jenkees, Vibrasphere...

I thought the original responders in this thread seemed confused as to what the OP was talking about even though it is obvious to the majority of us, I just wanted to clarify for them. 

To use your example, the OP could have said let's here some good classical music and the next posters might say "I'm not into classical, but I like romantic."  Then I would let them know that the person was using the word "classical" as an umbrella term.

didn't read most of the thread.

saying all electronic music is techno is closer to calling elvis death metal than it is correcting someone calling chopin classical.

if you wanna lump all electronic music together, call it electronic music.

at least techno isn't house.  house is definitely the worst genre imaginable, and it seems to be undergoing an incredible resurgence right now in all the gay areas of the US.

i can kinda listen to techno, spent too long listening to drum and bass though and i just keep waiting for the tempo to pick up, no matter how long i listen to it.

Personally I hate most techno but there's this stuff called Chip-Tunes or something and its made on gameboys and it kicks ass.

One of the best electronic albums I've ever heard is BT - Emotional Technology.
Most of his music is made for high-end listening equipment though; you can still get the feel of it with a decent pair of headphones.
The amount of sonic textures and effects he seamlessly mixes with his music is breathtaking.

I have no doubt 50 years from now we'll look back and begin to realize just how much of a genius he was.
