Well trays of cubes would be just like a mono tub right ??  And mono's are usually around 100% right ?  Trays are gona be uncased.

If you check out some of hippiechicks threads you can find some real good info on uncased cakes and humidity.

They're in there.

I run a single cool mist on 2 1/2 hours , off 1/2 hour . Repeated all day

They get 10-12 hours of light a day . Ceiling fan with 3 60 watt bulbs .

Temp 72 F . Humidity 92-94% all the time.

I'm going to be setting up a 2 tier green house for Pans in the near future . I'll go through it step by step in a post. Just bought 10 of them at a great price at Walgreens pharmacy . $10 a piece  Great for peeps who might not have a lot of room .

My GH is at 100% humidity, 24C/75F and the trays seem to be fine so far. The trays are cased though.

Also I found this post by her it is alittle newer. I don't get how she leaves them on all day without flooding.

OK after all this talk of successfully fruiting uncased substrate I decided to give it another go and I put two in the greenhouse this morning despite the lousy experience I had last time I tried it out uncased.

I know that it basically should be treated as a huge cake and a humidity of near 100% should be maintained at all times,I do not have an ultrasonic, what are my chances of getting the humidity in my greenhouse that high with just a cool mist and a huge tub or moist perlite on the entire bottom shelf,

How often should this thing be misted,I know better than to let water pool on the surface but with nothing holding in any moisture I just don't want it to end up like last time,I know there are a few people here who have had success in the greenhouse uncased,I guess my question is if anyone has done it with out an ultrasonic or am I going to have to go and buy one tomorrow.

Also I know that wax paper can be used to hold humidity close to the surface for a better microclimate, this didn't seem to work for me last time ...ANY advice is appreciated

I've had good results with just a cool mist , but an ultrasonic will really make a difference when fruiting uncased . I leave them both on 24/7 .

My GH is pretty foggy

Here's something else I do to help things out . I took some of RR's advice about perlite trays and added the verm I used to set the cakes on and now set them on a 50/50 mix of verm and perlite

The verm holds water that the cake can suck up while the perlite will let some wick back into the air to help maintain the humidity . If the verm seems dry , I just add tap water:thumbup:

I'm not having any problems getting pins

That's going to be one hell of a first flush:grin:

im just hoping it gets enough FAE I got the door open around 1/4 of the way.  If not I may do the water proof 120 mm fan for fresh air.

You don't think the ultrasonic will provide enough FAE?

I only have a cool mist with mine and I'm hoping it's enough. Only had it running for a few days.

I would think with both a cool mist and ultrasonic you should be good for both humidity and FAE.

Very true.  But everyone always says you can never have enough FAE. So if I can get alot and also keep the Rh up.. Then why not right lol.

coolmist + ultrasonic will be fine... Just gotta get your timing right.
Also, if you pipe in your ultrasonic from outside the greenhouse, you will def be ok.

According to RR, if you cut slits in your greenhouse and put a coolmist INSIDE in on the bottom shelf, that will be enough FAE. (assuming you have enough slits)

Just make sure you run empty a few days to get everything right.

Yeah I hear ya'. I'm still a big fan of direct fanning. I've only had the GH set up for a few days and I couldn't help myself but to fan a couple of times. Even though my cool mist is outside the GH.

I'm hoping it's good enough without fanning on the days I cant babysit it.
