We are writing to advise you that Verizon recently received a notification from a copyright owner of a possible copyright violation that appears to involve your Verizon Online account (the "Complaint"). The work(s) identified by the copyright owner in its Complaint are listed below.

We are contacting you because our records indicate that the Internet protocol (IP) address provided to us by the copyright owner was assigned to your service on the date and time identified by the copyright owner. While this activity may have occurred without your permission or knowledge by an unauthorized user, or perhaps by a minor who may not fully understand the copyright laws, as the primary account holder, you are legally responsible for all activity originating from your account.

do you download torrents. sometimes torrents have viruses in them that let them know who downloads them. that why when i download torrents, i wait for reviews by people who have downloaded it already. dont download something that says its a dvdrip of a movie that isnt even in theaters or just entered theaters.

Ehh, you get em even with PeerGuardian if you download media from the wrong content providers (NBC is a big one).

Don't trip about the letter OP.  I've probably gotten 5+ of those from Charter and nothing has happened.

I must be doing something right because I've been downloading torrents for years and have never gotten a warning.

Get them from reliable sources and never get unrated content. Use your head and keep yourself safe if you are going to do something illegal. It's the same with using drugs.
