2nd attempt at lib hunting

Habitat:
cow field on a hill side, found growing in grass/soil

Gills:
dark gills running up the inside of the cap. stem meets at top inside cap

Stem:
2 - 3.5 inches, thin, cream, black in parts, rubbery texture were a bit slimey when picked its difficult to see if its hollow as they are Very thing stems

Cap:
1.5 - 2.5 cm, cream (dark bruising), a bit slimey, conical some more so than others

Bruising:
im not sure if they have bruised dark or some are a bit rotten they were picked a few days ago and im struggling to get a spore print from these ones.

i think its the slime that threw me but they have dried out now ohwell. i think its time to find a new location and buy a book or 2. Hey has anybody ever found any truffles? how do you go about that? just kick about as you walk? or is that not to be told? how deep are they buried?? maybe i should post a new thread.....

Get a noble dog and train it to find truffles. I have a Hungarian friend who goes truffle hunting with his dog every year. He once visited and brought more than 500 grams of killer truffles. They were literally worth thousands of Euros. We ended up grating them on scrambled eggs even until I really didn't want to eat any more truffles.

cool! i have got 2 jack russel terriers.... dont think they have the attention span. not with jack but the pup is learning fast :smile:
I could imagine they would just eat them as i attempted to train them and would just end spending a fortune feeding my dogs

You need to buy some truffles to train them with and you also need to know where these truffles grow. Then you need to go there to hunt them.

i think ill just look for some common edibles for now lol, its all good fun. i live in a pretty rural area so there are loads of places i can go hunting, plus i like taking the dogs to different places, i get a bit nervous with the cow fields and the dogs they are little buggers.
