Found these whilst lib hunting, need ID please
    #1996453 - 10/10/03 10:41 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I went out lib hunting today and came back with these.

I dident have a camara whilst hunting, but i found them along side a horse field amongst a bunch of stinging nettles sitting in the damp soil underneath a tree.

The stems range from about 3cm-8cm's, they are creamy/dark brown colour, the spore is white *i dont know how to take a spore print sorry* The caps are fairly big white caps with a brownish centre, some caps look asif they are forming a nipple on top

Well, you need to find out how to take a spore print(read sticky threads) if you want an ID.

To make a spore print, simply remove the stem from one of the mushrooms, and place the cap on a sheet of shite paper. Let it rest for 24hrs (usually, spores are visible after 2-10hrs, but you could build in some safety margin). If you see nothing, you could repeat the procedure with a sheet of coloured paper, to see if any spores have dropped. This can be useful with species that have a white spore print, as you might have understood

Well, foil works best, that way if the mushroom drops a white print you'll be able to see it. If you know the mushroom will drop a dark print(dark gills tend to indicated a dark print, but not always), just use paper.

Are there tiny hairs sticking straight up from the surface of the caps, especially at the center of each cap?

Happy mushrooming!

Just a guess, without a better description its hard to say for sure, and toxicman already hinted it, but they look like ringed honey mushrooms. Apparently this mushroom has many variations and its hard to say for sure just what species you have there.

Were there tiny black hairs towards the center of the caps??
