Id request - possible gymnopilus
    #11284010 -

Iv been passing by this clump of mushrooms for a while now on the way to the lab, i finally brought in a camera, im thinking they are in the Gymnopilus genus but im not familiar with the genus at all.

They are growing around the base of a dead tree, largest caps are about 10-15cm, gills were light orange. The picture shows a clump with shrooms in various stages of growth

Any help would be appreciated,

oh and there was a ring around the stem

They are very good Just be sure to parboil or cook them thoroughly to remove any mild toxins. Some people say the raw mushroom can cause stomach upset. Also the unopened caps are they best
