What kind of motherboard?
    #1124826 - 12/09/02 12:24 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

I was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback on some motherboards. I plan on getting the Pentium 4 3.06 GHz with Hyper-Threading technology. I have narrowed it down to 3 options and maybe you guys can help me decide.
Option #1: Giga-Byte 8IHXP, with PC1066 RDRAM but no 8x AGP support.

Option #2: Any motherboard with the Intel 845(or higher) chipset, supporting DDR333 RAM with 8x AGP support.

Option #3: Wait until June when the DDR400 is supported on motherboard.

Get an Asus. They work great with the faster processors.

I don't think Asus has any motherboards with the Intel 850e chipset. I would love to check, but AsusTek's website hasn't been working properly for the last week.

You should check out www.tomshardware.com and see what motherboards they use for their Pentium benchmarks...

I've been going there every weekday for the last 2 years. Tom's mentioned that RDRAM's is going to be obsolete when the DDR400 comes out, but that's over 5 months from now, and it'll probably get delayed as usual. They just use DDR333 motherboards because they've stopped making RDRAM boards.
