Ok I can tell you are google happy and not full of significant information. Luckily I have conversed with nasa associates. Nasa has a satellite recovery program, google it and you wont find it. They recover satellites all the time the people administering the program, well they recover satellites.

Have you seen the flightpath? That shit took off in june and went around the earth a dozen times in the weirdest way. Go watch the launch animation on nasas website.

So with the information I have gathered from you and what has been discussed.

- nasa spent billions on this program, 583 million (79 million in 2009)  was tax payers dollars the rest was private funding.
- Nasa's objective to plume the surface and analyze the dust which will contain water? That is if the explosion doesn't evaporate it.
- A satellite will examine the dust with one of nasa laser which will send the info back to earth.
- The satellite will then crash into the already disturbed area to save guys at nasa some time

So Americans are paying 583 million dollars to have some official in a few days or a few months come out and say "we have found water molecules." Something that was done decades ago.

Waste of fuckin money. But that's not what they are doing though.

I know this rocket which BTW is as strong as 2 plutonium armed warheads.

You have no idea WTF you are talking about

Sure i do. Do you know how much hydrogen the rocket is carrying when it will impact the moon? I do and it was stated on nasa's site but they have since taken down that information.

I also know the power of a single plutonium tipped warhead from my days in the service.

No, "the govenment" cannot "launch a missile" at the moon. NASA is not "the government," they're a scientific agency which pretty much follows its own agenda

GTFO NASA is a government organization using tax payer dollars.

Satellite recovery works for satellites in earth orbit, not satellites on a collision course with the moon. We have NO REASON to recover this satellite -- you're already complaining about a meager 600 mil, why do you want them spending more?

"That's not what they are doing?" Seriously?
I can't believe how clever you are, you've cracked NASA's secret plan to ... what? Blow up the moon? Right, dude. :whatever:

So do you know how long it takes a transmission to reach the earth from where the satellite will be?

Do you know what time the satellite will crash into the surface after the rocket?

You do the math.

4 minutes 26 seconds.

The subliming H20 will not reach past the blast until 10 minutes after the rocket hits.

 x 2

The satellite recovery system is for satellites in earth orbit

Yes I have read all about this.
The had to circle the earth twice to build up enough speed to impact the moon fast enough to make a big enough blast.

WTF

There are no weapons used in this experiment

First of all, there are no explosives involved. The LCROSS mission is going sending a upper stage of a Centaur rocket and a smaller spacecraft to impact the Moon. The two objects will create a crater — The 5,000-pound (2,270-kilogram) Centaur is expected to slam into Cabeus Crater on the Moon's south pole at a sharp angle at a speed of 5,600 mph (9,000 kilometers per hour). The Centaur's collision is expected to create a crater roughly 60 or 70 feet wide (20 meters wide) and perhaps as much as 16 feet (5 meters) deep, ejecting approximately 385 tons of lunar dust and soil — and hopefully some ice.

The LCROSS spacecraft itself, weighing in at 1,500-pounds (700-kilograms), will follow the Centaur by about four minutes and fly through the regolith plume thrown up by the collision, just before it too slams into the lunar surface, kicking up its own smaller plume of debris, all the while using its sensors to look for telltale signs of water, beaming the information back to Earth.

No but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they are testing armed satellites from space. They are testing weapon capabilities.

I never said they are trying to blow up the moon.

The second satellite will send its information as it passes through the debris cloud and will continue transmitting until it crashes into the moon too.

We will receive all the information it sends

Have you graduated from HS yet

Wow holy shit the use of google again.

I've got a clicky for you too.

read the first sentence.

Well i keep forgetting you all dont have access to information on americas weapons.

And people here are so opinionated they don't even know a fact when its told to them.

All I can say is watch this vid of a high altitude nuclear bomb test.

And tomorrow I will post a vid of the lunar explosion.

Alright, this has gotten too combative. That's partially my fault, and I apologize.
Just so I'm sure I understand you correctly:

It is your suspicion that NASA either does not have a use for this moon surface water-content data and/or they have no actual intention of collecting such data with LCROSS.
Following from that suspicion, you think it seems likely that all of this is an elaborate cover for some unprecedented kind of weapons test.

Is that correct?

If so ...  I have got to admit that I have no means of proving you wrong, and therefore I acknowledge that there is some possibility you are correct.
However, I personally think you're grasping at nothing for psychological reasons of your own.

This is tinfoil-hat-type-shit, and I am going to treat it the way I treat all similar theories: crackpot until proven otherwise.

Show me some evidence that they are not.

I suppose if we hit the middle of LA with a centauring  rocket no one would be harmed.

I sadam had a rocket like that bush could have said we have found womd.

Im glad you face palm. Here is another one for your face.

Nasa is part of the government.

Psychological?
Elaborate please. Are you one to say agent orange never existed either?

To be honest it would be cheaper to send a drone with 10 arms that can dig the 30 feet they want to uncover. would be a lot cheaper than the half billion price tag on it. They do want to establish a base on the moon for manned mars missions. The biggest hurtle is water.
as if molecules of water can sustain life on the moon.

But this leads me to my point again. the blast will be so powerful that any trace of water will be evaporated.

But im over it. You all defend nasa abd I will sit back as this country buries itself deeper in debt do they can one day head to mars.

They're probably fulfilling some sort of crazy prophecy that needs us to bomb the moon to trigger the destruction of the world in 2012. Or something.

It's funny at my fiance's work they're having a party right now and watching it on a big screen. He wanted no part of that project and refused to help LOL. He's not as crazy as me but believe me plenty of other people there are also going WTF???? Seems to me there is some other thing going on here.
