stalled pups?

hi, i was wondering what could cause or may be the cause of this, because i have several pups that were removed from diff parent cacti all about the same time, and i have them in the same container aswell with enough space between them, yet a few have stalled completely, they had all established roots, and the 3 that are doing the best are ones that i recut again because they were getting real fat at the top, growing out from their skinny bottoms, so i cut and re-rooted them so they looked better and more proportionate, and i figured it would stall their growth somewhat while they re-establish roots, yet, those are still growing pretty rapidly, yet the others that have been sitting there havent done anything, im pretty sure they are still alive, they dont look dead, they just refuse to grow.......i'll get some pix in a lil while, i was just wondering if anyone knew what could be the reason they wont grow?

Patience young one.

Sometimes it can take months and months for pups to start growing again.

As long as they arent rotting or burned, they should be fine.

What kind of watering schedule do you have them on, and what kind of light are you giving them?

they are outside, i live in southern texas, and i water them maybe once or twice a week, and they get occasional rain, i just thought it was unusual, cuz a few are doing exeptionally well and the others are doing nothing, they are all about the same age, and like i said the 3 best growing ones were re-cut/rooted, and i figured that would slow those, but they rooted in not even a weeks time :shrug:

they have been planted for a few months already, i repotted then once or twice since then cuz the original container was too shallow, but they been where they are now for a good little while

here's a pix, the circled ones are the ones that havent done anything, the middle one did get sunburned a while back, and i thought it was gone, but i left it and it seems to have plumbed back up and gone back to green instead of purple-red, but still hasnt grown which i understand about that one, but the other 2, i have no clue, btw, they are pedro, bridgesii, and the shortest one on the top right circled is a torch
and the three bigger ones woulda been atleast twice as tall, but they were very skinny at the bottom cuz they were started under CFLs so when they grew out i recut them and rooted again

cacti go into dormancy
  or something can stunt their growth

Your growing season is almost over, man.  It'll be chilly in about 2 weeks or so (which is when you should begin your winter dormancy). And then it'll be actually freezing by mid-november.

i know that, but they should have done something atleast, IMO(it's been months of nothing), it's like they are just being stubborn or sumthing, the others are fine, those 3 are being little pricks, lol

dormancy can happen at any time if they miss their winter dormancy especially.

here they were a while back if u can determine which were which


alright cool, i guess i just gotta wait and see, i just was hopeing to see them grow some, and got worried about em.....anyway here are a couple cuttings i got a month or so back, that are rooting nicely, and a prickly pear that i got a couple pads from not too long ago, and look at all that new growth!!! there were only 3(technically 4, but one is acting as the root base) pads all together when i got it and i made 2 plants out of it, but they seems REAL happy, they did that b4 i even fertilized, now that i started fertilizing it, i wonder what will happen:peyotespectrum:

ahhh some seed grown cacti are just slow in general.

  forget about them because they don't have desirable genetics.
  or graft them to Pereskiopsis and MAKE them grow :cool:

they arent seed-grown, they were offsets on my loph grafts :peyotespectrum:

oh ok well they must not have a good rootsystem yet then.

  your soil doesn't look to great either. Is it all sand??

no, it's not all sand, i just sifted it very well cuz it initially had alot of bark/organic matter, it does have some sand, but it is just sifted and mixed well
also have some shultz cacti ferts for em

Hey, on the bright side, I usually break dormancy in late-february. its really not long to wait.
