advice on b.caapi and Psychotria viridis

hello all. iam about to order some fresh caapi and Psychotria viridis seeds all the way from south amercia. ive got varoius lights that i can use on the plant through our crapy winter in the uk and keep some seeds for next year.iam planing to do a grow log. is there any  growers out there that could share any tips for growing these plants, iam not growing to use them just for my collection. i cool glass house and heated one. hps and cfl lights of varouis sizes and powers.
plz any advice.

I have a few P. Viridis clones that only showed acceptable growth under a 150 watt HPS.. they're painfully hard to start from seed as I've tried twice with 2 vendors and have had no luck.  Best of luck. I'll be keeping my eye out for that log :smile:

Do you mean fresh, as in ripe (Psychotria) berries... or fresh, as in freshly dried seeds?

It's best to germinate ripened berries as opposed to dried seed in my experience... it takes a long time for the berries to germinate. You shouldn't give up on them though... keep watering them and eventually they'll pop up.

Actually, the easiest method of Psychotria propagation is leaf cuttings... If you have access to fresh (non-dried) leaves, take them and snap them along the spine (don't tear the leaves into pieces, just make a few breaks in the leaves) and place them in potting soil, water them when the soil dries... You may want to keep them under a humidity tent, depending on what zone your in.

Basically, the breaks in the leaf act like nodes from which the leaf will take root. It takes some time for them to sprout roots but once they do, they are easy to care for... I used to have some huge P. viridis specimens but had to give them away when I moved. I also kind of lost interest in Ayahuasca, although I wish I still had at least one of my Psychotrias...

I orderd some fresh psychotria berries, and they germinated after about 6-8 weeks.
I just put them in soil + little vermiculite above. The temperature when I planted was a bit low, and became worm later.
I think They germinate with great success from fresh seeds.
They grow painfully slow though.

You should check out I am shaman... they have great products and I have  gotten several things from them that were great.

So very true! Once they are established, they seem to speed things up a bit though...

No node.  The teks usually say to try and rip the petiole with some stem tissue but most of the leaves I used probably didn't get any stem tissue on them.  The roots grow out of the end of the petiole as well as the eventual shoots.  The key with these is patience.
