sounds like mayeb its a pretty good hmidifier. i dont know much about ultrasonics. i guess test it out and see. if there is constant condensation on the walls that causes dripping and especially pools of water then it is obviously too much. if there are just beads of condensation on the walls then it is perfect for cakes. if oyu are casing then probably you will want to modify it or put it on some sort of timer. the mmgg has instructions on using an ultrasonic.

Heh, im the ultrasonic pro. I will tell you all, once i get home.

Ok, Im home. If you using cakes the ultrasonic kicks ass. First off, get rid of the styrofoam cooler. There shitty. Go to wal mart of k mart and pick up a pack of wife beaters and a tyupperware container, the bigger the better. Make sure its clear. Once you get home put on one of those wife beaters and through a lil spaghetti sauce on it. Jury rig up some clear hose that you get from the hard ware store, approx. 3/8 inch outter diameter. Drill 2 holes in teh tupper ware container, One on one side towards the top(an inch from the top) and one on the other side (1 inch from the bottom). Run the hose from the humidifier to the chamber making sure there is no low spots in the hose for water to gather. Cut each end off the hose at an angle so that water will drip from it. Hook The hose up the the chaber and to the humidifier. Your set. Now a little water on teh cakes is fine. They do better with water on them especially when there fruiting because they suck the water up and grow bigger shrooms. Good Luck!
You might ask why should i believe this guy? Well heres my resume, www.fanaticus.com/7cakes.jpg

It's easy to modify your humidifier. I just drill a 1/2" hole into the output nozzle of the unit. Then I use some 1/2" hose and run that into my styrofoam cooler. It is then run through a small plastic pop bottle. The bottle has many 1/8" holes in it. This allows the moisture to swirl and the large droplets collect in the bottle, while the fine droplets (better for the mushrooms) come out in streams from the holes. Every couple days I empty the bottle and that's it. You can also solder in a couple resistors inline with the output potentiometer (if you are confident in basic electronics) I did this and gained a lot of control over the lower end of the units output. Very handy for fine tuning the humidity when you pins are pea sized and require the humidity reduction to 85% for fruiting.
