Verticillium?

Hi there, i'm a new guy from Norway doing some mushroom cultivation.
I have a casing here that's not doing too well and i wonder if my shrooms are infected by verticillium?

It's a simple vermiculite casing with popcorn substrate. Strain is B+.
I had a lot more success the last time i cultivated this strain, they were some really nice and tall shrooms on the same substrate and same technique...

Could someone take a look at these pictures:



It was a bit too humid for the casing the first week i think, it took about ten days before i could see a couple of pins. Maybe the humidity brought the verticillium with it?
Any thoughts or clues to what i did wrong?

Hmmm...mutants you say? Maybe you're right, i hope so. :smile:

When i studied the colonized substrate i couldn't see much signs of rhizomorpic growth, maybe it was just a bad mix of spores in there?

I will sometimes have a tray with very little rhizo growth.  MS innoculations can be like that.

I was afraid of that, because it supposedly happened once before with another casing i made some years ago, then i was told it was verticillium.
The deformities in those were more weird looking, but the same thing happened that the hat opens up prematurely and doesn't start to sporulate.

Edit: Some crazy shrooms you got there on the most right picture! :smile:

I harvested the shrooms now and the biggest one was about 25g and all together about 55-60g.
None of the shrooms had an entirely broken veil. The hats all seemed like they were still connected to the veil in the same end and they had some similar features that may suggest they're very closely related.

I'm going for a second flush to see if i get similar results. :smile:
