Chicken Mushroom?

I think this is a Laetiporus cincinnatus, but I recently almost mixed up another polypore with a chicken mushroom so I wanted to be sure.  It has an orangish tint to it, but it is not very bright.  I thought this may be because its an older mushroom.  I found it growing right under the base of an oak tree.  It also has a strong anise scent to it which I've never experienced with other chicken mushrooms.

I put these pics up in another thread but I realized I probably shouldn't throw in random ID requests in another thread.  Thanks.

I wouldn't eat it this late in the game, though most of it would probably be still edible but not as good as younger ones. You want them when they're still bright orange.

I ate some of those this year and I thought they were pretty good. Both of them were at the bottom of oak trees.

Thats too bad, this thing is giant, I was going to freeze it and eat off of it for a while.  Oh well.  Thanks again.

still bright orange and rubbery. i probably wouldn't eat them that old either.

the develop off flavor and are hard to digest. not the best combination.

a friend of mine once brought me several dry pounds of them from olympic park, and they reconstituted like balsa. i stubbornly insisted on eating them anyway, and a few preparations came out alright but they where nothing to brag about. i think i was just too determined to enjoy them.
