you are very harsh, i made a mistake in the international part. CHILL!

and yes i was so excited once i hit ground on that 8 hour flight, have you ever been to Amsterdam in the Netherlands by the way?

and i'm always on a level 5 trip, you are right about the aroma and great vibe i get it.

and its not F as you say guy, it was a C- ... according to the person who graded it.

i kind of understand what your saying...  you were feeling a vibe that was not quite full fledged, just a smidgen of what was to come...  i like that style, took me awhile to get it tho...  just use plain english... not to mention the numerous amount of grammatical errors in just one sentence...

Look, some aspects of writing are more subjective than others.  Different people have different ways of writing, even when drafting "non-creative" documents (i.e."technical writing").

I have passed papers among different professors, and received entirely different responses.  I've written things for publication, and received entirely different reviews from different editors.

It's part of the nature or writing.  At some point, whether its for class, or for a boss, you simply suck it up and say: "okay, I'll do it your way".  Since you're a student, this is one of those times.

true thanks for that i understand. i guess it was my mistake in the beginning for not accepting that i was wrong, so i'm sorry to my professor and myself at this point. thanks for all the input it will help me one way or another and i appreciate it.

would anyone like to read my full 3 page essay?

alicedee: i agree, plain english might be better than being too damn wordy. i must try it out in my next essay, but does anyone get that urge to write a buncha shit in a small amount of time when you take adderall? that's what i've felt for quite some time noww..although i did get a B on my business final from b.s., front and back on the blue book all the way to the end on that final.

heh i probably couldn't disagree with you their, i'm not even sure how my friend whose 24 , read and found no errors. all he said was "it is an interesting way of writing, i like it" i mean hes no editor but he did get through it and he believed it was a decent essay.

i do have troubles with punctuation, not so much grammar though. its just jumbled like i say, hit or a miss.

I used to think I was a pretty good writer until I got past my first english class in college. Then I started getting worse grades on papers. My points were write, I just didn't write well.

It was cluttered, wordy, and didn't flow. I also have a tendency to overuse commas.

Shit like that gets good marks in high school and even the first year classes, but once you're onto your second year (which I believe you are) your peers are probably writing better papers than you.

It's hard to go from thinking you write really well to realizing you're not near the level you thought.

Some of the worst offenses: Tense agreement, punctuation, complexity of sentences (simplify your shit), thought and point flow, too many words.

Also if you really are a good writer but still getting poor marks you need to adjust at least for that teacher. Regardless if this is the case or not you should go to office hours with your paper and let your prof help you out. Your writing will improve along with your grades.

Sorry if this is a redundant post, I didn't read everything in this thread.

Honestly you write like my 8 year old does. He uses the wrong words, and can't put down what he is trying to say on paper correctly. I would go back to the basic level if i were you. It's that bad. I'm not trolling you, I'm telling you flat out that you make no sense at all. You really are trying to sound smarter than you are and it's very obvious. I bet your whole issue is you have never taken criticism from anyone including your teachers, then you just write it off as it being their problems and not yours. Learn to accept criticism. It isn't someone slamming you, it's someone trying to teach you the right way by pointing out your faults. If your teacher is telling you that you are wrong then you probably are. We are verifying your teachers claims, and i would suggest you go find a tutor to help you. Whoever let you slip through the cracks should be reprimanded because it has done you no good at all. Good luck man.

My 2c to the OP:

Your meanings are correct upon an interpretation, but ultimately ambiguous. In academic work, aim for the lowest common linguistic denomenator - refrain from verbose or even poetic language. You're not bad, but you're certainly a bit deluded. Get rid of that ego, and you'll have the chance to become a good writer.

Accepting my fate I fled to the woods,
to dwell and gaze in freedom.
No one visits the cliffs
forever hidden by clouds.
Soft grass serves as a mattress,
my quilt is the dark blue sky.
A boulder makes a fine pillow;
Heaven and Earth can crumble and change.

true , i agree with pretty much everything you said. thanks for that, i've slipped through the cracks since middle school i've always had a slight dyslexia problem but have never been on medication until my first year of college. i've always, i mean always have had tutors helping me since damn near almost middle school. i think i definitely need to go to my professor more often and let her revise and help me out with my problems.

simplify simplify simplify, you are exactly right i need to correct this in my next work of art(if you will). i've always been good at writing and getting the essay complete, but maybe not the entirety of the essay in terms of understanding to one.

Sorry brah, but...

You can't write that well. It's OK. Nobody's perfect. Your posts lack proper capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. You're using the thesaurus like a noob. Your sentence sucked balls.

As i stepped foot into Schipol Internation Airport, i had felt the aroma of the great vibe that Amsterdam was about to give me"

Capitalize the "I." Spell international correctly. You felt an aroma of a vibe? WTF is that? Scrap that sentence entirely...

:tard:

But I do think you're smarter than your professor. Definitely. Superiority for the win!

you need to read the whole thread to understand that this has already been reiterated. although i'm not flaming you, just understand i've got the majority of help thus far. although any other wise statements would be advised, not saying that most of them aren't but they are still greatly appreciated.

you may think i have a big ego on the forum yes, but in real life if you ever met me it would be completley different. i accept criticism with an open mind, i'm probably one of the most accepting people that i know besides a few of course. new ideas and new criticism just helps me become the person of who i am today. thanks though dhl, for your input at least thus far.

in fact if their was a shroomery meeting i would like to see what you all are about, if you saw me you would probably think i've never dropped any drugs at all but i'm still straight as fuck. i have no big ego problems man, i have no idea where you get that i protect it, maybe on a forum but not in real life. forum & real life= a completley different reality, believe it or not hahah =D

Yeah dude, seriously, I think you are definitely smart enough to 'get it', and you seem pretty capable, but you are trying too hard to be something, you know what I mean?

Hopefully I don't sound condescending... I'm pretty naive myself, especially when it comes to writing, and taking personal criticisms.  The most important idea to grasp when taking constructive criticisms is that it you are on a personal road of improvement, and not in a contest or a race, competing with others.
