As i stepped foot into Schipol Internation Airport, i had felt the aroma of the great vibe that Amsterdam was about to give me


my version =

As my feet, without any hesitation, initiate my spirit into the friendly faced "Schipol International Airport", I immediately begin to feel a colorful wash of pure bliss which in turn leads me to a conclusion that this place they call "Amsterdam" will forever grow inside of me.



Now thats just my version of course, but with no disrespect, I feel yours was a tad on the bland side. :shrug:

the only thing i hate when i write a post is the trolls in the posts that i make. it makes the whole forum experience a bit too much for the people that want to learn..

it probably is too wordy you are right dhl, but its just so hard when you want to write so much and too much about everything to get that grade. especially when your sped out its hard to control, i mean i had a 24 year old revise my essay who writes 10 page papers on the norm. and in terms of punctuation and writing he thought it was fine, beats me huh..?

and also my no means do i consider myself and excellent writer, in this case i thought i was in higher standard. again take it with a worldy view, constructive criticsm is taken dearly.

First off, you just gotta admit your writing is shitty.  It's not that big of a deal, but when you make excuses for your problems you will never move past them.  The fact that you are trying to defend your desire to be seen as a good writer is preventing you from seeing your writing in a less biased perspective.

I used to do THE EXACT SAME THING, and I never realized it until my dad, who is an editor, told me that he thought I was trying to sound like someone else.  I haven't written anything for school since then, but I'm hoping when I go back I will be a much better writer.  I have a large vocabulary too, but its easy to utilize it in a counter-productive way.

ok i understand this. although what i cannot understand is that all of my writing has always been like this, maybe a tad more simplified. this is the only professor that has not fully understood my writing, like i said maybe its the person but i'm totally in shock atm.

its also good to have more perspective than just my editor and my professor. its good to see input on these boards for sure.

my writing is probably shitty, could it the rush, laziness, completion of the essay, too much b.s. , too wordy. i don't really know because i have been writing essays my whole life, i've always had trouble but i didn't know i was 95% shitty.

Haha, I can. I of course added a little fantasty flavor into it for personal kicks. You see, this is just writing, isn't it?

Whats wrong with putting some effort and emotion into writing? Obviously it would be rather silly to write everything the way I did. Of course you wouldn't want to read an instructional written that way. It just suits a personal journey.

words and sounds are basically games. we manipulate them to tickle our minds and hopefully grasp an idea

Unless you come out of that plane on a level 5 trip, you don't feel an aroma, ever. You either smell the aroma or you feel the great vibe, end of story.

And Schipol INTERNATION Airport? were you detained? Schipol sounds like a branch of Interpol, I think you mean SchipHol.

Look, some aspects of writing are more subjective than others.  Different people have different ways of writing, even when drafting "non-creative" documents (i.e."technical writing").

I have passed papers among different professors, and received entirely different responses.  I've written things for publication, and received entirely different reviews from different editors.

It's part of the nature or writing.  At some point, whether its for class, or for a boss, you simply suck it up and say: "okay, I'll do it your way".  Since you're a student, this is one of those times.
