Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.- Was found near a tree which was about 30 feet from a creek. I'm in Northeastern Ohio, there were about three clumps of them.

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc. Blackish brown gills.

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc. White stems.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.






These don't seem like any good ones, but this is my first time hunting.

They're inky caps, they're edible and not psychoactive.  They aren't worth it because after up to a week of eating them just drinking a beer with play hell on your liver and kidneys, you can eat if you're not a frequent drinker.

Ok thanks man, do you think actives are still around up here in NE Ohio though? There are a bunch of streams/creeks around here, is that my best bet you think?

Don't drink alcohol after consuming ink caps!

I started a painting using ink cap ink, but I ran out of ink:(. So in my opinion those are good ones!

Just not ones you can get high from.

I used to putz around in NE ohio. Your best bet is cow pastures. but watch out for farmer joe with a shotgun... Never found and active in the wilderness out there.
