Hello everyone! I went camping this weekend at Nelsons Ledges in Northeast Ohio this weekend. This was the first time Ive actually gone somewhere planning to hunt. So much fun! I brought my digi cam along because Mr_Mushrooms told me that he has picked some nice oyster mushrooms there. I am going to try to do my best to provide enough info for an ID. I dont own any field guides as of yet so bear with me.. Here we go. These were found all over growing on fallen logs and stumps in the shade of tall trees. I suspect they are oysters but I cant be sure.
Gill shot
In my hand..
Macro gill shot.
Now Im not sure if this is the same kind or not..
Okay here is another species I found growing on the forest floor in decaying leaf matter. Sorry no gill shot.
Then there are these which I believe to be another species.. They were at the base of a tree. In thier habitat..
In my hand
Gill shot
I took some specimens home for printing.. Ill post those later. Another species from the forest floor. These were commonly growing on living trees.
These were the only ones I found of this type.. No gill shot, sorry camera memory low.
A few more random pics..
Hope I did ok?

Your first mushroom isn't Oysters - it's Polyporus squamosus, Dryad's Saddle. Note that it doesn't actually have gills, it has tubes (pores) instead.
The second species, the one with black gills you took home to spore print, is Coprinus micaceus, a common Inky Cap.
The mushroom with zoned cap on the side of a tree is another polypore, from a general group called conks. To identify it more closely would require more information.
Happy mushrooming!
