HELP! Might get kicked out of my dorm!

So I am a student at UNT and within the first week of going to school I ended up with a paraphernalia ticket. Long story short, the cop was awesome, disregarded the little weed we had (we have a no tolerance policy, I should've been in jail that night), did a three way charge for possession of a gram baggie, and I got a referral to the dean. Well, the girl that was with us had her meeting today, and she said that we were smoking (despite nothing on the ticket stating this) and she was kicked out of her dorm. My friend and I put on our statements that all that happened was a baggie was found and we all took blame for it. Now, my meeting is tomorrow, and I CAN'T get kicked out, or my ass is fucked by my parents and I'll have to pay back the money for the dorm. My question is has anyone been in a similar situation like this and has any advice to not get kicked out of my dorm? I'm going to play the "I'm an honors student who came here with an IB scholarship and and 43 hours as a freshman" card, but that might not be enough. Perhaps making compromises, but I dunno how this "Zero Policy" shit works. Anyone have any advice, or am I just fucked?

You are likely fucked out of the dorm, and might not want to draw attention to your scholarship or you might lose that too.

start looking int a means to appeal or contest the decision especially if
the actual incident didnt occur on campus, that zero tolerance shouldnt
apply once you're off campus

Well it's not a scholarship, it's a Texas state law they have to give me credit. But I dunno, I'm thinking of just sweet talking her. It all seems too much to get kicked out over a baggie. But who knows....we will see tomorrow.

And it was on campus...in front of a dorm. This fucking girl we were with kept insisting on smoking there instead of driving off campus like we had suggested...

Humm, first I would deny everything.  If that doesn't work, I would fight the ticket.  Normally if they cannot prove the ticket then the school cannot take punitive action against you.

Lastly, do not smoke pot in the dorm rooms.

Sadly this might be one of those things where it is best to get a lawyer, because you might loose the dorm, your scholarship, and any federally subsidized student loans.

Hey, i live in a zero tolerance state also.. i have had friends run into this issue and pretty much all you can do is put on the most professional, "totally-out-of-place-in-the-drug-scene" front you can... get dressed up like your going to a job interview or better yet a wedding (or funeral).. and be honest about the sittuation (the one incedent).. however try to make the point that you know you've fallen in with the wrong crowd in your new environment.. and you never thought you would be wrapped up in something like this because its out of the norm and not like you.. call it a momentary lapse in judgment or a situation that you didnt know how to handle and you tried to fit in... basically make the impression that you are singing like a stool pigeon.. that has never been in trouble before for such things.. and you know it was wrong and you want nothing more to do with the people who got you there.. ect ect ect.. and at that point all you can do is hope like hell that the dean buys into it.. and is willing to give you another chance..

Well I have the ticket, and it specifically says "DRUG PARAPHERNALIA" and that is it. Nothing ever about having weed or smoking. We have to to write a statement and I wrote nothing about smoking or having weed....but that BITCH who had her meeting before us admitted to everything, and she got kicked out of her dorm. So, I am going to stick to my story that all we had was a baggie, because legally that is all we got the ticket for, and hope for the best. But I will update later today and let you know what goes down.

as I was saying, that appeal may be your only hope, what you have is a
hearing in which you're obviously not being advised that you have the
right to have legal council, you're entitled to due process if that
university receives any sort of government funding, it can also help
your friends out

a couple things to consider, until there's a conviction there's really
nothing the school can do as they've deemed you guilty without a trial
and are imposing punishment, dont just roll over and play dead, show
them you're a student that's willing to fight them for what you're
already paying for

Oh the crappy ol' days of dorm life.

I don't even remember how but my suitemate (we had our own private rooms) somehow got caught for having booze. I had none on me, but since it was in our suite in his private room, I got written up as well.

better yet, he should offer to suck the deans dick, I'm sure she'd like
that.. in statements like that it's an admission of guilt, our judicial
system was built upon the concept that everyone is innocent until proven
guilty through adjudication before a jury of our peers, the school is
jumping the gun since there's technically no guilt as there's been no
trial, suppose he goes to court over this citation and he's found not
guilty, then what? he has no conviction but he's still fucked out of the
dorms

A baggie could also be murder weapon; like one of those dry-cleaning bags you're not supposed to put around your head because you could suffocate...

I wouldn't fight it myself. It would seem that the university has chosen to keep this a private matter. One person out of the group has already admitted guilt to "authorities" Trying to call the school's bluff is just asking to make this official police business which the OP is better off not doing in my opinion.

burden of proof is on the prosecution, they gave 3 people a citation
which means they've made it an 'official' matter already, the citation
if for possession of a plastic bag that must not have had any drugs in
it since there was no citation for drugs, what's the cop gonna say, he
omitted the drugs from the citation, well fuck, the state lost the case
already on the credibility of the witness, he couldnt tell the
difference between drugs, a human head or a sammich


any way it goes on this one it's an easy win, always fight but remember
to keep your mouth shut and never put anything to paper
