who do you usually go picking with?

do you guys usualy pick on your own or with a group of you? what is a good excuse is your alone in a field and somebody catches you. obviously with a group there could be many excuses like your hiking together.

I go by myself most of the times (>90%) and I don't need an excuse. I never have to trespass here in Germany, I hunt on public land. Most of the land is community owned and doesn't belong to a couple of fat-assed cattle barons.

i prefer to hunt by myself. 

if you ever get caught trespassing, the main rule is to never admit that you were looking for magic mushrooms.  they won't be able to stick you with a drug charge, but you'll get something for the trespassing.

By myself and I nearly always hunt in forests that are accessible to the public, so I need no excuses. Sometimes, I hunt with family, but as GK, 90% of the time I'm on my own. My constant photographing makes me a dull and mostly incredibly slow hunting mate, anyway :wink:

I think it comes with taking a very special interest in mycology. Unlike some other hunters who go out only to find as many edibles as possible quickly, I sometimes stick around a certain spot for half an hour examining every detail and taking pictures. Quite tiresome for potential company, unless they are equally interested in the matter.

Even worse, if I stumble upon a patch of edibles, I pause only long enough to pick what I need for that night's dinner and then move on to try and find something more interesting. That particularly upsets edible-shoppers.

I usually go hunting with my dog. It's a lot less suspicious snooping around when people think you're just walking your dog. Of course, she has a bad habit of getting us stung by bees/hornets so perhaps that's not the best idea.

I like to go by myself... but since i dont have a car i always invite someone who has... over here there is no problem to trespass... most farmers are nice people...

I even recall one time a farmer helped me to find mushrooms he told me, "hey over here, i think this is what you are looking for"

When my buddies were with me they always want to move on too quickly. They don't seem to understand that actives haven't been on my priority list for a while, and that I am fascinated by all fungi.

my friends suck! they expect be to show up with a sack o' cubes(though i mostly hunt edibles) and give it to them for free, but they wont come shrooming with me!
