red and gold chant beauts

Still need to clean them up, but i brought in about two pounds! These pictures don't do them justice, they are so incredibly vibrant. While I was hunting though, a quick little story: I managed to see three of the cutest little key deer, the tops of their heads are only maybe waste high? I probably should have brought the camera with me hunting, but it slipped my mind, I may have seen a bolete while I was there too! A nice big 7"-8" diameter pored ugly thing, dirty brown cap with thick white stem, I'm thinking of actually going back to get it, damnit!

First time actually getting these though, although I'm 95% sure they arent the fake ones (not clumped in the slightest, and all the gills run down the stems), just a little confirmation would be nice :grin:

So whats the best way to cook them? Sautee with some onions and chicken?

North Florida, its been raining a lot lately and found them in pretty swampy conditions, hence the dirt, but they're lookin a lot better now.

Technically, chanterelles have *false* gills.  Re: gills and growing in clumps -- I assume you were referring to the poisonous lookalike Jack-O-Lantern mushroom (Omphalotus olearius)?
