What details?  The equations that we use "fail" within the event horizon... they become divide by zero errors.  To say "density is infinite" within the event horizon is erroneous because we don't know what really happens within the event horizon.  All we know is what happens as you approach the event horizon.  The closer you get to the event horizon, the closer density gets to infinity.  If we take the limit, then density goes to infinity which is where the statement in question comes from.  However, it isn't density that is infinite, but instead it is the limit.

:thumbup:  That's how I have understood it before from a couple of the books I have read.  I've actually seen it described that way on a documentary or two before as well.

Not to quibble, but the singularity only occurs at the center I believe, not within the entire event horizon.  At least, thats my understanding of it.

Very good point.  I'm mixing singularity and event horizon, which is wrong.  With the event horizon, as you approach it, your velocity goes to zero, thus you can never pass through it.  The infinite density is within the singularity itself, located somewhere within the event horizon.  Thanks for the correction; I need to start proofreading myself a bit better.
