To all of those who answered the questions asked: Thank you. 

To those of you who didnt and just posted bullshit, move out of your parents basement and get a real fuckin job.  Experience the world a little more.

I didnt ask how to grow mushrooms, or anything of that sort.  I asked for anyone's personal experiences with hawks eye.  Just because they are a sponsor or not doesnt matter a rats ass. 

Apparently, if you dont take a spore print your first time growing you are a liar or the stupidest person in the world.  Oh well. 

BTW, to the other sorry ass McRejects that crapped thier half-assed wannabe wisdom on this thread, you guys rock.

This kind of thread makes me remember why I quit smoking dope all those years ago, you end up like the bunch of pathetic losers that come here.  I got my answer, I will come back in another year or so, maybe.

Hey sparkplug, I'm not gunna bash you, but you got rather defensive awfully quick.  Some people just have to ask that question, because most people don't care to spend that sort of money over and over again on multispore.  Since you seem a little new here, I'll offer you what I know.

With regards to hawkseye, I've heard nothing but good things about him, and he is a shroomery sponsor, so it's a good thing that you are spending your money there, even if for most of us it is more than we think you ought to be spending, it still helps out the community and it keeps this site running.  Thanks for that.

With regards to your comments on spore print sterility, I've taken many prints and made many syringes and with regards to sterility you don't need any fancy equipment, you can manage just fine with a fairly unsanitary conditions.

I've been doing my prints as follows, and they work just fine:
1)Wait until veil gets stretched and is somewhat transparant, keep in mind you don't want to grab the mushroom till you see this, not before, not after.
2)Don't worry about sterility at this point, in essence your tub or fc or wherever you have harvested from is sterile enough, sure you may get a contamn but ultimately it happens every now and then and the best that you can do is either run a biohazard lab, or just roll the dice with the numbers.
3)Even in open air, keep the cap facing down near the container you plan on taking this print with, twist the stock a bit, and then push the cap off the stalk.  Try not to split the cap -- this takes a bit of practice but it also happens every now and then.
4)If you split the cap, start over because the spores will dry to the cap and not make a good print.
5)If you've gotten this far, place the cap ontop of the intended surface, I use sterilized yogurt container lids, again all you need is alcohol.
6)Try not to create air eddies around you, and breathe away from your subject.
7)Place in a sterile plastic container with a lid.
8)Wait 1 full day, try not to place in too small of a container as the higher humidity caused by the cap losing it's moisture might make it possible for a contamn to infect the mushroom and sporulate (this is what causes the biggest problems).
9)After the day, exchange the air within the container, remember that for the most part spores fall down because of gravity -- they can also float sideways and what not if you open the lid too quickly, this way it can dry the spores out so they won't become ripe for contamns to grow on.
10)Take your print, put it inside a glove box or some other sterile environment, and then scrape into a shot glass and fill with sterile water, squirt in and out and voila you have a spore syringe.

I use a glove box for only the step where my caps are sitting on the lids, then I take the caps out, chuckem in a pile of mushies I have that are drying out, then I take the prints and scrape them into the shot glass and make the syringes out of syringes containing sterile water inside of the glovebox.

Bear in mind, my syringes are not made inside a glove box.  I simply take boiling water, place it in a coffee cup, quickly open the syringe package, then open the needle package, and as quickly as possible slap that luer lock together then quickly remove the cap, suck the boiling water in and out and then back in again, and voila, I point up, flick a few times, spray some water out, cap goes on quick, syringe goes in a bag, which I spray with alcohol.  I do this 20 syringes at a time, and it works just fine.  If a syringe is contaminated, I quickly identify it and toss it off to the side, but either way, I now have spores that I can recover regardless using agar, if all 30 of the ones I made this past week end up getting contaminated -- which is highly doubtful, my spore syringes have never gotten contaminated (though it might happen, you just have to deal with the contamn and get rid of it as soon as you see it).

No matter what you do, unless you are running a biohazard lab, with biohazard suits, you are not going to be contamn free, simple as that.  If you have a hearty strain, it'll be-able to deal with a good number of contamns by fighting it off, and that is all you can hope for.  Just because one spore of mold gets into your grow doesn't mean that it'll ruin the whole thing, as is the case with bulk it happens and the mycellium releases metabolites as a defensive mechanism against invaders, most of the time this works at fending off the problem, sometimes the problem gains a foothold and begins to consume the mycellium.  That's a fact of life, jars are cheap, dirt is cheap, I could have another 16 monotubs going for under $50 worth of material, so what the heck is the issue here with sterility?  You just can't have a rampant bin of mold sporulating for weeks in your house, that is all, and even then you aren't guaranteed problems.  It is risk versus reward, but you aren't going to get anywhere if you don't take some risks, and people are questioning you because it's more economical to take a few risks.  What the heck does a cup of flour cost?  Cuz honestly, I can make alot of jars with $15 worth of verm and brf.  The point is, even if you lost half of what you made, you'd still have the other half, and the cost is certainly negligeable compared to what you are getting out of healthy flushes from cakes and bulk grows, so why fight it?  Just do the best you can without being stupid.

If playing it exceedingly safe is the way you wanna go, go for it, but you'll probably save alot of money and get more mushies if you just take a risk and make a couple of prints for yourself.  Plus it's a smart idea, so you can retain the genetics which you've bought, and then buy or trade for different genetics.  Every time you place an order online you are taking a risk, everytime you trade for that matter you are taking a risk.  Just weigh your risks, nobody wants to get caught, getting a little trich is better than getting caught.

Thank you for your input.  The last time i did this I wasnt exactly in a place that I could do anything other than what I did.  My situation has changed, greatly.  This time around I would do prints, etc.  All that being said, I do have some other feedback on my purchases this time, but i am going to give it a little longer so that I can give a full report.

it's ok... i didn't take prints when i got my first shrooms to grow... didn't wanna screw up either... probably won't take prints again this time either because i'm unsure of my abilities in mycology at this point. i can totally understand. then again, xtofury makes it sound simple. sometimes it it seems like being a newbie around here is detrimental when it comes to seeking out help. i use the search function as much as possible, but it doesn't compare to getting help from another living person. oh well. it's all gravey as long my shrooms are growing!! good luck.

There's nothing wrong with being a newbie, and you really don't have to worry about prints, although I'd save one cc of every syringe you order just to ensure that you can get those genetics back at some point without paying through the nose again.
