bruised sternum

i'm pretty sure i've bruised my sternum (there was a black mark there for a couple days but has faded some today), and possibly some around the back of my neck.  i jumped off a ~60' high cliff and hit the water with some movement of the shoulders/neck.  there is slight persistent pain moreso towards the left of my chest, which has made moderate-to-deep breathing pretty painful. 

i can lift things with little problem; but raking motions or butterfly motions really hurt.  the pains are pretty sharp, not like a soreness.


i've been self-medicating with canna-food and some oils that were given to me (Calendula flower (Calendula officinalis), Arnica flower (Arnica montana), and St. John's Wort flowering tops (Hypericum perforatum)). 

is there any way to quicken the healing process?  i do physical work outside and can't really be missing time.  either way i have to start back to work tomorrow, after taking the last couple days as rest


i don't think anything is fractured, though i've never had a fracture and don't know what they feel like.

any advice would be appreciated

Demius, I would recommend you see a doctor. There could be something really wrong, considering the pains are sharp. It is possible however it could be nothing major, but at least that way you would know.

Has the pain lessened in the days since the event? And, will you be able to work in the condition you are in?

i dont think seeking medical advice on a forum full of Wikipediologists is a smart idea.
