waiting to dunk n roll

im about ready to birth some BRF cakes and im out of verm, i was wondering if it would greatly impact the yield to wait to dunk n roll until the first flush is done

not worth it to skip the dunk and roll.

i used to be paranoid about dunking and rolling.

once you realize how contam resistent fully colonized substrate is (especially on the first flush) you will see that it is pointless and silly to skip the dunk and roll on the first flush.

when i compared cakes that were dunked and rolled to the cakes that weren't....the cakes that were D&R produced 2-3 times as much fruit and fruited a week earlier.

dunk it! roll it! :thumbup:

My statistical assumption is that chemical tapering should begin when the rate of visiting ODD exceeds the rate of visiting Pub, or any other Shroomery forum.

if your out of verm then just dunk it and skip the roll.

but i suggest you go buy some verm and do things right!

you will get pins quicker if you skip the dunk and roll, but you might not get as many pins. the difference is that if you dunk and roll you are giving your cakes more moisture and a mini micro climate which could result in more pins and healthier fruits.

IME cakes pin slower when they arent dunked and rolled.

i think dunking and rolling increase the amount of surface moisture evaporation and can actually speed up the pinning process.

ive seen cakes start pinning 4 days after hitting the dunk.
