Is dunking necessary if I have 98% humidity in my terrarium?
    #1611216 - 06/05/03 11:53 AM (21 years, 20 days ago)

I use cakes with brown rice flour in my terrarium hooked up to a humidifier. I've been reading posts in this forum, and heard about people dunking their cakes. What does it accomplish? And is it necessary if I have 98-99% humidity in my terrarium? Thanks!

VERY NECESSARY!!  It rehydrates the cake and gives you better flushes!   YOu can also inject the cakes with water....but stick with dunking for now.  Just submerge it in water and place it in the fidge for 20 hours + but no more than 24 hours.

Thanks. This tek states you should dry cake with a paper towel. I think I saw a post with someone suggesting to roll it in vermiculite. Is the vermiculite option better? Or was that in reference to something else?

Yea good dunking tek there.

The cat always just boils some water, waits for it too cool, adds a tiny bit of H2O2 to the water and adds water to the jars until the cake is floating in the jar or is just submerged, seals up jars and places in fridge for 16-20 hours, then birth and place in terrarium.

Dunked. 12 days after introducing into the terrarium he says.

Double end case as well, add moist verm on top of the cake and you can also roll it in verm and then moisten by spraying.  Always a good idea.  This cake wasn't rolled, finished before cat found out about that tek, this was one of his first.
