Conceptualizing.

When you first become aware of something, there is a fleeting instant of pure awareness (mindfulness) just before you conceptualize that thing, before you indentify it. Mindfulness is that split second just as you focus your eyes and mind on it, before you objectify it, clamp down on it mentally and segregate it from the rest of existence. It take place just before you start thinking about it, before your mind says, "oh it's a dog'' or " that is a tree." For that brief moment you see that thing as an un-thing. I feel that enlightment is being able to view everything like this at every moment. Pure experience that is interbeing with all of existence or the cosmos. Humans are odd beings, we focus on our preceptions, we have a habit of congnizing our preceptions, labeling them and getting into an endless string of symbolic thought. We, in a way, imprison ourselves by doing this. I don't know. Just some ideas to throw around...... Peace, Trevor

I just noticed that my post is a long string of symbolic thought. So now that I have put doublethink to use I guess you can disregard my whole post.

Remember you are talking about sensory input. The whole of the Universe is not input into the senses. Either one universe or many (which one?) is partially input through causality. Intelligence is the ability to extract the rest of the Universe from perceptions. The individual human is stupid at this. The collective human race is less stupid, but it's mostly-collective mind has far more perceptions (however detached).
OK, here it comes.
If understanding is creating a model of something in data-relationship meta-language, then understanding a part of the universe is to convert it into data-relationships which more and more closely predict the data, right?
And this understanding is derived from perception. Perception is selective, so wouldn't understanding and increased perception pair together?
If minds and universes pair up so well, what is there to distinguish them?
Trying to escape something by digging deeper into it's infinite mass.
I can only verbalize brief fragments of the beautiful informational romance going on in my head right now.

I agree! I think this moment of "pure awareness" is the way infants experience reality, and I think it is the way we are supposed to experience it. I sometimes wonder if humanity's seperation from Nature has left us feeling disconnected from living in-the-moment because of an increased awareness of the illusion of time. We oftentimes look more into the future and the past than in the present moment.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not calling technological advancement wrong, but rather I think it's a "disharmonic" step in between our animal consciousness and our god consciousness... What's the next step? Conscious group-mind type awareness perhaps?

Nither of which truly exist. Life is one moment. Only one moment can exist. The past is done and the future is unknown.
