But it makes no sense.

Someone with 10 positive ratings earns the same vague "excellent" tag as someone who has 100 positive ratings?

It doesn't just replace the shroom graphics with a text representation. It actually provides a more accurate interpretation of a user's ratings by normalizing the raw scores to provide a more consistent baseline. It obviously doesn't "force" the interpretation on anyone though since you can still look at the original ratings if you want to. We'll be keeping the new system at least until people get used to it, to see if it works better.

Good point. Instead of 5 shrooms, it should be like a tachometer that changes shroomy coulors and the needle should point to a percentage like 80% means you average 4/5 shrooms.

Or a 25 shroom graphic, it would be longer, but make a better representation of how a person gets rated.

Or it could start as mycelium and slowly develop into a full blown Cube!  Us "Excellent" statuses would have fully matured shrooms under our name.  :grin:

Someone with 10 positive ratings has always earned the same vague "5 shroom" image as someone who has 100 positive ratings. But I will consider ways that the number of ratings could be better reflected in the reputation score.

I prefer it if you just put our numbers instead for example mine would be 4.2/374

I nominate this instead so people can see the sample size we are dealing with
somebody could have a poor ratings but only be rated by one person
that person could b seen equally as someone with a poor rating yet rated by 100 people
in order to get the most accurate interpretation of a users ratings the sample size must be shown
statisticians commonely employ the tactic of hiding the sample size to better legitamize their findings

If you hover over your rep score it shows the number of ratings you've received. Or if you click on your rep and go to your ratings page, it also shows the number of ratings you received. There's really no loss of functionality.

The loss of functionality is that hovering over the number is impractical
the fact is that people are only going to take it at face value
most people would not take the time to hover over or even click the rep score
I think instead of were it says rep it should say the number
like for me it would say
