found in nor cal humboldt in the woods near some fallen tree stuff sorta mulchy old wood i guess
hopefully my lame cell phone pics are decent enough
they have sort of small yellowish spots
made a black spore print

Non-active just means that it isn't psychoactive (i.e. you won't trip).  Fruit bodies (i.e. mushrooms), whether active or not, drop spores for reproduction purposes.  Really, mushrooms are the reproductive body of an underground fungal network called the mycelium.  Spore color is a key to identification.
