They do a pretty impressive job of staying competitive with such a low payroll. Winning 85 games with 21 million > 97 with 41 + bunches of first overall picks.

They do.  But they won't when they don't pay Hanley, Uggla, Johnson, Cantu, etc.  This time the payroll chop won't come after a title.

There's no revenue sharing so the huge markets of Boston and New York can throw obscene amounts of scratch around while teams like Florida and Tampa Bay can't because we're much more a football state.

This is mostly true, but they'd be crazy to not keep the Han-Ram. They already signed him to a good contract and his defense is getting better. It's not hard to imagine him being the most valuable player in the game next year.
