i use mainly aged horsedung....sterilize it in bags or jars and inoculate from syringe or petri-dish...

I tried innoculating pan trops into untreated and pasturized-in-oven dung, and the oven dung (cow) germinated fine. No luck with the plain dung, but it was perhaps too wet. At first i thought it was cobweb, and tossed out the first jar. then i notice the second jar pinning, and broke it up into a larger amount of untreated dung. Seems to be working well. So you don't have to worry about sterile teks if you use this method, no fussing with grain etc..
