i went to the Smithsonian back in 2000, they had a shell from an atomic bomb from back in the 40s. that thing was the size of a fuckin minivan.

It's ironic that most of the bad shit out there we are afraid of other countries doing to us we have already done to another. Nukes, diseases, holocausts, hostle takeover, invasion, ..im sure im missing others.

I remember reading about it...

Both my grandpappies were in the south pacific, and my pops got sent to korea during 'nam.

Looks like things are looking out pretty sweet for me though, being a CO and all.

That sure was shitty, it was an attack on civilians. Not cool. I don't recall how it went down exactly but didn't we try and warn them to leave or something?

Was there a warning at all? I thought there wasn't, so that the world wouldn't all go like 'harhar, epic FAIL' if the device didn't work as planned.

And about the cancer thing: I doubt how much they knew about that in the mid-forties. The whole cancer/radiation-discussion only got going in the late fifties/early sixties. Short-term radiation effects were known due to some bad experiences with the so-called 'demon-core', but who would've known about the long-term effects?
