tossed brf cakes in the yard produced shrooms
    #10804495 -

A guy I met said he made 4 brf cakes in June and he had a tough time getting them to fruit in his shotgun fc. After a few weeks in the fc only 1 cake produced fruit. Since he had plenty more jars ready to birth and he felt he had fine tuned his fc etc, that he would toss out the old and start fresh with the new. So 2 weeks ago he threw them in his back yard and forgot about them. Today that SOB decided to finally cut his grass and when he got around to the back yard he found all the cakes he had tossed out had big fat shrooms growing off of them. He was so excited he picked them all off and put the cakes back into the yard near where he had found them.

He is wondering since they were growing off the cake will these be the B+ shrooms he was trying to grow or could they have become poisonous?

He can take some pics and send them to me if seeing a pic will help you experts out there.

Thanks.

sorry i cant tell you if they would have gotten poisonous or not but thats awesome, but my guesses are no because isnt a fully colonized cake almost prone to lots of contams?

i might be wrong:shrug:

As long as the cake isn't showing any contamination, the fruits should be fine...

If they're cubes then they're fine. They don't 'become' poisonous, chances are very slim that some poisonous mushroom may have taken hold, if he's feeling especially paranoid have him post it in the hunting forum for an identification. But sounds like he probably got him some shrooms.

:rofl2:

Just make sure there cubensis. Take a sporeprint, take a picture of the gills and cap and post it on the shroomery, do whatever ya gotta do.

If they are cubensis then they aint poisonus.

Unless they have some kind of horrible mold growing on them, in which case i doubt any one would want to eat them anyways.

He said the cakes looked and smelled like mushies, no wierd colors, odors or other molds growing on or near it. And when he broke them in two they were mostly white inside.

There were some big "pancake" type shrooms growing about ten 10 feet away under a tree, but that was it.

He sent me a pic and I will post it on the hunting forum but I thought those of you who have responded may be interested in seeing what he picked too.
