Got these given to me the other day and have no idea what they are. It apparently has black flowers :ooo:



It looks quite a bit darker than it came out in the pics.

Wouldn't that be hylocereus spp.? I'm not 100% sure.

Looks like a hylocereus or selenicereus.

Look up those on cactiguide

Its not a cactus.. i forget the name. The flowers wreak and attract flies and maggots.

Edit: Stapelia grandiflora and/or related species. Genus should be correct.

Edit 2: Get some carnivorous plants to surround it when it flowers, theyll have a buffet.

Dang that sucker is close to being a cactus, I can almost see the aeroles!!!!!

Thanks man, yeah Stapelia it is then. I dont think i'll know which one untill the flowers open though.

It had me think it was a cactus when I first saw it too.

Thats cool it attracts flies for pollination with a rank smell . Makes me wonder why more plants didnt adapt this method as theres usually alot more flies around than other bugs.

It is NOT Hylocereus.

I can't remember now this _succulent's_ name, but its flowers have 5 purple petals, hairy, and it attracts flies who put eggs in the middle of the flower.

Then, ants come and harvest those eggs, its a nasty process.

Yep those are a couple of buds growing. I'll defo post some pics when they open.
