First Job Interview

Well, I have a job interview to be a package handler at UPS in two hours, and I'm nervous. I've never had a job or interview. Has anyone worked at UPS as a package handler?

Yes, they will plug the career thing when you will make some decent money (as a driver and filling in for them on your way up the ladder) but in the meantime you will have to be their slave.  Physical health (being fit to throw the packages for hours) is vital.

interviews are pretty easy dude, theres only a few rules you should follow.

Dress,smell nice

Confidence - in your ability to perform duties, even the lame ones they might ask of you

enthusiasm, even if youre talking about yourself, and your goals, etc...

ask questions... during the interview try and think of what the person is describing as interesting and explore the matter a bit further with them. people always like too see the prospect interested rather than saying yeah, ok, yeah... etc...

eye contact and shake hands..

Thank you for the advice. In case you are interested it wasn't an interview. It was a information session and tour of the facility. My interview is scheduled for August 3rd. :smile:

you should be golden. they are not very picky. when i worked there as long as you had a pulse you were the man and were hired. but yea. eye contact and ask questions. VERY important

This is funny my friend starts at UPS on Monday. I work at UPS you should be fine as long as you can work hard.

outside of the general info you know they will ask i always like ha veing 3 reasons though up ahead of time of why im the best for the job and i have a few stories of when i did the right thing(walmart asks all their applicants that)

I just show them my resume and let them make the decision. I don't need to bullshit anyone to get a job.

My personal advice: there are some great videos on youtube that have all kinds of advice for job interviews.  However, I can't imagine how formal a package handling job for UPS is...

Well, the first interview went fine, I think. The person who conducted the interview wanted me to come in on Wednesday for an interview with her supervisor, and I was asked to bring my ss card and photo id. What do you think are my odds of getting this job?
