That's bizzare. Beer (typically IPAs or heavy-hopped ambers) hits me roughly 35% stronger than straight whiskey with the same amount of ethanol.

It's no placebo, different drinks produce different drunks.  I'm noticebly different with wine versus liquor versus champagne.  I don't know why but it's gotta be pharmacological in some way.

I would rather a glass of whiskey than anything. Beer, lager, etc gives me headaches mid drunk.

Beer definitely gives me a different buzz than liquor though. I have to assume it's a result of the hops.

Wine gives me almost the same buzz as liquor, only difference is I feel a bit more dehydrated and get acid-belly if I have too much.


I think you're right about the hops in beer adding to the high. My favorite alcohol buzz comes from drinking double ipa and that's pretty much all I drink. Personal favorites are Ballast Point Dorado, Moylan’s Hopsickle, and Dogfish Head 90 minute.

There is the dose yes, but there is presence or absence of CO2 and/or Sugar, concentration and temperature, all of which have an effect on how the drink hits you.


Yes, but in the end it's still alcohol and it has very predictable effects. Just because CO2 and sugar may effect the rate of absorption doesn't mean you're really getting a different kind of drunk from it.

I think the difference in drunks between beer and liquor are apparent but subtle...slight differences of the same thing
(probably due to absorption, set and setting)

I also feel that LSd and Mushrooms produce different trips in the same way Beer and Liquor causes different drunks: A bit different but generally very similar.

the alcohol is slightly different among them and in different percentages.  wine has to age for a reason.

beer has hops and other ingredients

even liqueur has different ingredients, altho its mostly for taste but surely some of them affect the mind

so between the different alcohols in the drinks, and the different ingredients surely there is a difference, perhaps small and hard to perceive while under the influence

Alcohol is alcohol. I can't believe so many people on shroomery would fall for such a myth.

I agree beer is differant because you have to drink a shit load, which means you get a huge body load plus it takes longer to kick in as opposed to just pounding a few shots.

But in general, it's all the same shit.

ethanol is ethanol, but alcohol isn't alcohol. and beer isn't wine, and wine isn't liqueur
