newbie tryin to ID amanita?
    #10794902 -

Habitat:
I found most of these growing near tree stumps of unidentifiable trees.  Some of them were found growing in fields of grass
These have white gills and are not attached to the stem

ores, etc.Stem:
the biggest one i found is around 8 inches tall and the stem is about 2cm around.

Cap:
the cap is convex to flat with warts growing on it.  The gills are moderately crowded...

Spore print color:
the spore print color is white
Bruising:
there is no obvious bruising
Other information:
these mushrooms seem to be extremely close to amanita muscaria except theyre all white.  i am an amateur and have no interest in eating these mushrooms i just find it a fun hobby to find and identify mushrooms.

Get a pic of the base of the stipe, not a muscaria type though.

looks a lot like this since you said "some found in fields of grass"...

maybe two different species since most Amanita species are mycorrhizal...

If you say that something is definitely a certain species you better have something to back it up with. And one thing this mushroom is definitely NOT is Amanita virosa.

the amanita thiersii is spot on with the mushrooms that i found.  It had pieces of cottony flesh come off and stick to my hands and the tshirt i wrapped them in.  the region is also dead on as far as location goes for finding them.  they also grew in a fairy ring.

with all that on top of the free gills, white spore print, the veil, and warts i will say im about 85% sure that it is the amanita thiersii...the other 15% will come when i can identify the mushroom on my own and have no doubt as to what it is...this is my first month of getting into finding and identifying mushrooms so im still very timid

we saw them while coming over a hill playin disc golf and i think it was the coolest thing ive ever seen.

thanks for all the help...i really appreciate it...

Excellent thread.  Dunno why I needed to say that.  It's just cool to see something I haven't seen before and get a good description and ID.
