your saying he got locked up because someone stole HIS cd and posted it?  that doesn't make sense at all. :wtf:

threatening people with death is one of our rights?

I was on the cops side at first (wow!), but after thinking about it, I'm definitely on the side of him being let go now.  He recorded the song a while ago.  He never expected anyone to hear that song.  And he now does Christian rap.  So it's definitely not a credible threat.

and isn't micheal vick a vagan or something ironic like that since those dogfights.  people change to save their ass moreso than anything else

and im sure most people who plan someone's death prefer that to not be released.  if it wasn't published then it can't be considered entertainment and theirfor could be viewed as a digital diary with a musical twist lol

to name someone specific means he knew the person.  to threaten a specific person with death deserves you to get locked up.  even internet death threats get people locked up if you happen to mention the right names.

this was a personal threat. why does a guitar get to hide people from the law?

if i were to walk up to a cop on the street with my guitar what do you think would happen?????????????????????????  oh officer i didn't mean for you to hear that! :kaboom:

The thing that convinced me was that he became a Christian rapper before "Kill Me A Cop" was released.  So that tells me that by the time the song was released, it was not a credible threat.

Someone admitted putting the song up without his permission.  Before that it had not been heard in a public forum.  That's the crux of the issue.  Don't debate without bothering to check to the facts.

lol no the crux of the issue is that he threated to kill someone, having not purposely released it AS I HAVE MENTIONED, means it was more of a hidden plot of sorts and if anything increases the chance that he was a threat to someone's life!  ive already went over it so go read the other stuff

and nobody said he stupid song wasn't stolen, so why don't you read and find out what the debate is about before quoting "facts" to people.  the debate is about him threatening an officer of the law BY NAME.  thats WHY he got locked up.

his song getting stolen and released is WHY he got CAUGHT.

Making a couple gospel songs doesn't make someone a Christian or a good person.

I know that being Christian doesn't make you a good person, but it does show that even before this controversy began, he had changed his life, become a different person, and is thus his song, which was recorded before his change, and which was never supposed to see the light of day, is much less credible.

Is it illegal to threaten to kill a DEAD person?

Even if he was alive at the time of the recording, I'd that that to be able to get a conviction for conspiracy, they'd have to show that he had the means and intention.

To convict him for transmitting a threat, it has to be relayed to a third party.  At the time the threat was relayed, the cop was already dead, so again, the threat was moot.

That's my legal interpretation

why do you keep ignoring the points i make, ive already pointed out that he clearly could have known before hand that it would eventually be released.  and after someone mentions killing someone "on a hidden cd", publishing some god loving music doesn't mean shit.

so plots to kill people "that weren't meant to see the light of day" makes him a safer person? and his threat safer? and that he shouldn't have been locked up at all?

i think not.  i feel much safer, and that cop sure as hell feels safer having had this guy in prison.  or i guess he would have if he were still alive?  denie?

Threats have to be transmitted to a third party

Luckily for him it took a while for that to happen and the threat had become unviable in the meantime.

There was no plot, only a threat made in a song.  Eminem is not in jail for threatening to kill his wife by name in a song; the creators of Grand Theft Auto are not in prison for promoting violence against police officers in cities obviously modeled after New York, Miami et al.; that is because it is understood that these are not serious threats.  And whether or not he considered the possibility that it might be heard by the public later is irrelevant; it was a private recording.  People are free to say what they want in private as long as they do not act upon it.

How do you know that he expected the song to come out?  I think he found religion and then afterwards is now being haunted by a song that he hadn't expected to come out.  As was said before, the crux of the situation is if the song poses a legitimate threat.  I think he changed his life and is now no longer a legitimate threat.

That's not a good example because there is no direct threat being made.  GTA is obviously fantasy.

i thought eminem said he wanted to kill her but that he never could because she was the mother of his child or something like that.  besides she didn't turn up dead lol  the fact that this cop did makes it look even worse...maybe he turned to christan music to repent for his sins:yesnod:

but like i mentioned earlier, if you write down something, or record something involving someone elses death, and its implied that you wanted to kill them.  and somehow a cop heard this, that gives suspicious.  now that fact that the person wanted this revealed or not doesn't matter....the threat is still out their.

if you have someone who wants to kill someone and lets that person know

or you have someone who wants to kill someone and has it recorded somewhere and hidden

i view both as threats on my life.  it doesn't matter if you say it to my face or not.

if someone wrote down or recorded a plot to blow up a building and someone a cop stumbled apon that....its still a threat.

The fact that the song wasn't intended to be released means that it isn't a credible threat.  He was just talking shit to himself.
