is 12 hours long enough for a good print?
    #10722994 -

title says it all. I just cut a couple caps off and am wondering if they would be good by morning.

Everything I post is completely fictitious, and for your amusement only. All the pictures I post are either photoshopped or ripped from the internet. Whenever i trade for spores it is for examining the spores under microscopes to see their characteristics. There is no reason why I would ever want to nor will I grow mushrooms containing psilocybin while in the USA.

It's ok. 24 is better.
I've been known to move the caps onto new foil after 12 hours...

Yeah they should be good by morning, you can tell by the eye.  If its a faint print, wait a little more, if it looks like a solid gradient, your good to go.

Everyone has always told me this, and there is no way around it, so here it is.

If you hurry, or try to cut corners, or beat around the bush, you will fail more likely than not.  The end.

Are maza known to drop a bunch of spores or are they sparingly? from looking under the caps there does not seem to be a ton of spores. I'm just talking from color.

I have been talking to a well known cultivator on the forums for awhile now.
They suggested to me to print for no more then 4-6 hours, After that,Move print to another piece of material.

I have been doing it this way since. I have had excellent result from it.
I can get on average 3 prints to a cap from this method.
I also found what was suggested to me to be true when it comes to this----If the cap will not print good in this time frame then odds are it will not produce a good print regardless of the time.

IMHO like others, There is no good reason to have your prints "paint" like dark.

A light print will give you more then enough spores to do your work with and then some:thumbup:

Hope this helps:thumbup:

No way! I do that, move the cap to a different foil.
I was too embarrassed to mention it, I thought you'd all laugh at me.

theres other reasons for taking more than 1 print from a single cap. If it had a small amount of contaminants, the first few hours should drop them making the remaining prints cleaner, well thats in theory though.

I dont see how 1 dark ass print compared to 3 normal prints would make. the dark print would still make the same amount of syringes you would get out of the 3 regular.

The only different being, using less of the print per syringe.

Veda think out side the box.

If you have 3 thats not only 2 to give to members but also 3x less you have to open it to make a syringe.

Unless you want to make 20-30 syringes of the same strain,Then by all means go for the dark print, But like me I like to just make what im going to use and send save the rest for a later date.
Once again that's just me

thats what i have spore water jars for. I use a whole print into a jar of sterilised water with some lube and draw as i need.

I actually want to get some proper 1/4 pint canning jars for this purpose as im unsure of how well a sauce jar seals. The security button has been pulled down from the vacume, but it could still leak idk.

So far it hasnt given me a problem, except for maybe a spore or two germinating due to tap water.

I think the point is that most of us don't use that much spore water. Not all from one cap, at least.
Grain to grain, agar, LC, all let you grow more mushrooms with fewer spores.

Not sure exactly what veda is speaking of but all my spore jars got a drop or two of "Jetdry" this keeps the spores in suspension without clumping but if your going to be storing these syringes for a long time don't use anything but pure distilled water to prevent premature germination.

People have used water-based personal lubricant- just a drop- like you use Jet Dry.

Yeah i dont have any distilled water at the moment, a few years ago i discovered that it sometimes happened but never fully confirmed it. Now that i have started growing again its still happening and others have had it happen.

Ive got a spore syringe with 3ml left of spore solution from a burma print, it now has a snall white bob even though it was stored in the fridge. So does the spore water jar lol

Strangely enough, the lube that i used doesnt seem to have prevented spore clumping.

Its durex play, 2 in 1 massage gel & lubricant, contains vitamine E.

Jetdry is a whole different animal from personal lubes or soaps I think it goes beyond the breaking of surface tension.
