Enhanced PF-TEK formulas
    #10485022 -

Hey everyone.  I was doing some research online and I came to these alleged enhanced PF-TEK jar formulas.  I tend to believe in the "keep it simple stupid" mantra, all three of the vendors of these premade jars claim improved performance over the traditional PF-TEK recipe.  Interestingly, there are commonalities between each of these formula:

1:
"These Jars Contain Organic Brown Rice Flour, Horticultural Professional Vermiculite,WORM CASTINGS,BEE POLLEN,FLAX SEED,CORN MEAL and MINERAL WATER. This is the perfect mix.  "

2:
"Pre Sterilized BRF Style Jars with over 5 extra ingredients to boost nutrient content. Contains:

All-natural Horticultural Grade Vermiculite
Organic fresh-ground Brown Rice Flour
All-Natural Spring Water
Organic Bee Pollen
Ground Organic Flax
and a secret blend of spawn-enhancer."

3:
"PF PRO CONSISTS OF :

Hand selected Horse Dung
Organic Brown Rice Flour Freshly Ground
Organic Worm Castings
Organic Bee Pollen
Horticulture Grade Vermiculite
Mineral Water
Vermiculite/peat moss casing layer"

There is definitely an overbearing hype factor here that makes me suspicious.  Interested in your take on these "enhanced"  formulae.

That's my favorite, if it's secret, it must be good! :lmafo:

I see none of those list gypsum, which is the best additive to the pf tek I've ever used, bar none.  I saw no improvement at all from using bee pollen, which actually isn't 'bee' but flower pollen. The bees only fly around and collect it, and then they pass through a screen entering the hive that scrapes it off, ruining their days work.  How the hell they trained the bees to only land on certified organic flowers is quite a feat. My bees visit all the neighbors.

I think its all crap to real you in. I mean usually the people who buy these are noobs. So i bet they figure the people wont know any better. When all you gotta do is some research and you find that gypsum is a big helper, unlike the "bee" pollin. i bet thier secret ingredient is qypsum, lol.

Oh yeah, the "secret ingredient" was my favorite part too!  I knew this was indeed bunk, and there were severe incidents of extreme misinformation, the biggest one being to incubate your jars at 90 friggin degrees!  I wonder how these guys can maintain repeat customers, since most of them are probably drowning in bacteria and thermophilic fungi contams.  Some of those ingredients were just so off the wall I just had to ask!  The complete absence of gypsum, was indeed surprising.

To be quite honest, I have yet to come across a grain formula that will not work and work well imo.  Kramer has given permission to share his 3...2...1...BLAST OFF! formula...

Take 3 parts millet, dump in 2 parts hot water, soak 15-30 hours, mix in 1 part verm (fine verm is best he says).  Continue to mix while loading jars (most of the water will drain to the bottom of your mixing container, so continue to stir as you load). You can load half pints, pints, quarts, whatever you want.  It is virtually impossible to fuck the water content up on this, and it is the most forgiving grain tek that I have every tried(and I have tried damn near all of them). You can use the dry verm layer in your half pints and pints, but for quarts, I recommend traditional g2g, after all if you are doing quarts your not fucking around anyhow, why wait on them, right? Don't worry if you have a little standing water on the bottom of your jars, it will colonize just fine(if you have an inch or more of standing water in any of your jars you did not follow the formula/tek). What I really like about this substrate is that while it makes excellent spawn for bulk or g2g, it can also be fruited as a cake. 1/2 pint cakes yield 15-20 grams dry(with a dunk and roll and decent fruiting conditions), cake lovers need to try this one!
This was originally done with wbs, and since most all wbs has loads of millet in it, Kramer just bought some millet one time and tried that.  He liked it, then he loved it, and now he swears that there is no better way to do it!  Tried it with a few other grains and says that millet works best.

How much gypsum should I add to my pf tek mixture?
