My Loph graft

What's up guys,I've been away for quite some time,and now I've returned,as if anybody cares,but yeah,this is my first ever graft,and it was taken over two months ago.The Loph is looking rather sick,and is mushy,it was fine before all the rain we experienced.I'm hoping it will make it.Anybody know how long it takes them to push out new pups?I've never attempted a graft before of this kind,also,here is a pic of the root.It actually made it,and has grown so much.I'm just wondering when it will push out new pups as well?Also,check out all the new pups pushing out from the Pedro.Should I leave em on???

I'm a cacti newb so why do u cut the ribs down in an angle? So it doesn't pup?

HAHA,it's good to be back good buddy:grin:Yeah,it's been super hot here,and I think the Loph is severely sun burnt.I hope it pulls through.Either way,the root is still alive,and I have multiple pups on the ole San Pedro!!!Oh,and I think you cut the angle so that it wont push the graft off.

Yeah I hear ya!

The weather seems to hate my cacti.

When they're out in the sun it rains and when they're under cover it doesnt.

You should not leave Lophs or grafts in the rain, neither water from top.

nice graft although you might want to remove the emerging pups as they steal energy from the scion.

Damn,thanks guys,I kept it indoors for a month until it took hold,and then just left it outside.I,in fact watered it from the top,and I think it might have sealed it's fate.Only time will tell.I'll remove the pups when they get a lot bigger.I'm not too worried about the Loph,as I can always acquire as many more as I could ever need.I wont give up on it though:grin:

Depends on each specimen, if it has the ability to pup from existing growth.

Yeah, that's one of the problems with wild harvesting is that there isn't a 100% chance they will push out new pups.
How long has the root not had a top?

The root has been without a top for over two months,and has grow quite a bit.I think it will push out new pups,because it has gotten a lot bigger,and it's roots are firm,and I can't even pull it out of the soil.

Yeah i'd think if it's growing roots/mass it will push out some pups eventually.

exactly my thoughts.I guess I'll just wait it out,and see what happens.i actually read that they wont push out the pups until the next growing season,but I'm not too sure if that's true or not.
