First grow ::UPDATE::

Just inoculated 16 jars ( was trying to get 20 but first few jars got a lilllll to much solution) hopefully this goes out well!!

I did the RR videos to a T. Hell i lysol'd the room down so much then took a shower and even wore a tyvek suit with all loose ends taped down with gloves and face mask

Only time will tell now:cool:

UPDATE:

Ok its only been 3 days since the inoculation and all seems to be going good, the tex jars have no signs of colonization but its still early, the B+ on the other hand ( which i used 10cc for 6jars compared to 10cc for 10 jars on the tex ) i THINK i am starting to see growth, i noticed a few mm wide circles forming i believe(white of course) under the inoc hole soooo we'll see what happens.

Just gotta be happy for no contams so far..:cool:

UPDATE2:
WOOOOOO, got home from today and the Texans finally showed growth in most the jars, the b+ have FAR taking off and got some GOOOD rizo myc. in them, i would up pictures but only cam i got is a shitty webcam so not even worth it, oh btw its been 5 days since inoculation.

Congrats! I know you're totally excited, here's hoping for a good grow.

If you decide to do a follow-up batch (and you will, it gets addicting) I'd recommend constructing yourself a nice glovebox. Lysoling a glovebox is waaaaay easier than lysoling an entire room, and it has the added bonus that you can pretty much sit your stankin' ass in front of it, clean or dirty, and start working with a good chance for no contamination.

What a coincidence, I've got the same two strains fruiting right now. My B+ could be doing a lot better, but I think I packed the substrate too thick in the jar (RR saw some of my abysmal jars in the contam forum and recommended I just start over). My Texas, however? Holy shit. They started growing before I even birthed them, and once they had all that fresh air they got ENORMOUS. In fact I just picked a cake clean and cloned the biggest, fastest grower into LC, which is something worth researching if you wanna take things a little farther and get them going a little quicker.

You likely need not worry too much about using TOO much solution, unless you are paying for your genetics, in which case you may have been able to inoculate more substrate or if it was contaminated, in which case you're likely proper fucked anyway.

I ask what you are using as substrate because the PF jars require less sterility, (outside of inoculation, and PC or steam sterilization), than attention to detail and procedure, especially if it is a first grow. Otherwise, you may have need to be more sterile throughout your entire procedure.

i wouldnt worry too much about using a little more solution than recomended. Ive done it plenty of times when the needle got plugged with substrate and, damn solution down the side of the jar. Those jars have colinised much quicker due to a larger mass of germinating spores.

I hold the same opinion as RR, use as little spores as needed, ive used a dark syringe a few times, and even just a drop of solution was awy to many spores, those grows while colinised nicely didnt fruit too well.

I make clear syringes now and still see growth by day 3 or 4

Dry vermiculite layer. Allows for a little wiggle room in working with the substrate.

Not often used in pressure cooking, as far as I know.

In the waiting stage atm, at one point I wouldn't leave them alone on my days off, walking round with it like a baby in my arms. Now ive seen some mycelium growth I leave them alone and coverd over and check every 1-2 days once.

its the BRF tek, i pc'd 10 jars at a time at 15psi for 1 hour
i have a spare room ( pretty much grow/clean room) where i did the inoc.
lysold the whole room turned off air for an hour
entered room in tyvek coveralls and gloves wit the sleves taped down to the gloves
took a shower right before all that
flame sterilized the needle for each jar using denauterd alcohol
used GB and now i have them sitten in a tub with some holes in it with micropore tape on it, humidity is at 95%+ and they are staying around 76 degrees F

oh last thing i can really remember, i also let the jars cool overnight

Letting the jars cool well enough is likely more important than most of the other steps, minus the alcohol rub and inoculation, (printing), sterilization.

Just keep an eye, you should be good. You'll probably notice quicker colonization where you used "too much" substrate.

yea i know that to much is not bad and figured it would colonize faster, but i wanted 20 jars :frown::S oh well, your first time you learn A LOT of things that make/will make the second run much easier
