A friend of mine is jeweler, and he says that you should just take it into a jewelery shop and they'll check it for you. Another way is a zircon is a lot heavier than a real diamond. Good luck, man.

I've read that a test at a jeweler costs like $30 - $70...but I guess if I want to sell it I should find out some official info on it so people know they aren't getting ripped off.

It passed all the tests on this page:

So I'm hoping I got really lucky and found a real one haha. At this point, I think its real or a really really good fake.

There's really no way to tell how much a diamond is worth by looking at it with the naked eye.



you're wrong

take the stones and a piece of news print or something, put the
large facet (brilliant cut) down on the print, if you can see
letters through the stone it's a fake, the crystalline structure
as well as the cut reflect the light back out through the top
like trendal mentioned, it's the sparkle

also you can look for inclusions, great stones wont have them,
shitty ones will but they're still real, just poor quality

in that case you probably have a zircon or a mossanite, doesnt
matter, diamonds are virtually worthless, if you tried to sell it
to a jeweler or a pawn shop you'd get very little, when they buy
it's for the metal in the setting

Oh, also, FYI, a fairly big diamond costs 600 dollars Australian wholesale, and 2200 dollars retail, and I doubt anyone but a jeweler would buy a single diamond.

If you plan on selling it you'll want to take it to a jeweler for appraisal, anyway.

before you sell it to family or have it mounted, take it to the
jeweler, like I said, if you can see anything through the stone
at all it's paste, selling fake shit to your family will make them
pretty angry, spending $400+ for a setting for a zircon might make
you pretty angry

I am pretty sure it is ok to scratch glass. I mean isnt diamond one of the if not the hardest substance on earth... And plus isnt the only thing capable of cutting a diamond is another diamond... Dont quote me I am way to lazy because I just woke up to look any of this up... But i am pretty sure that is what they said in high school.... But that was a good 5 years ago...

Reminds me of a jewelery chain in my neck of the woods, called 'Secrets'. Everything they sell is literally glass or zircon, but they just sugar coat it by saying all rings are made with "The finest diamond simulant" while charging buttloads for worthless shit.

I quoted you anyway... diamonds do scratch glass, glass
scratches glass as does saphire, zircon and 90% of the other
fake stones, a scratch test is the worst to use to determine
if something is a diamond
